Hey, I searched the site and couldn't find a thread like this, so I decided to make one. If there already is a thread like this one, I'm sorry.

So what do you think of highschool? Is it the best or the worst time of your life?
I personally think school's good, nearly all my friends I've met at school. But I do have fear of failure, especially for all sorts of tests, so making a test is like living hell to me.
But what's your opinion?

Well, I can look at it two ways. High school was great because I had quite a few friends. High school sucked because there was no freedom. Like me and a couple of my guy friends had a running joke that we were like cows, being directed by the sheep dogs (principals that walked the halls) and the bells, from class to class. Looking back, it didn't bother me until senior year I think. But it makes me twitchy even thinking about going back. I don't like being told where to go and how to dress every day thank you.

College is great because I have all the freedom in the world. The classes rock. College sucks because I don't have as many friends, I'm tired all the time, and I don't have my own room to kind of escape from the world. So really it's a tossup.

If you want the truth, I want to be out of school so I can start work. I feel like I'm doing nothing in school, like my life is on hold for school. Best get over that, seeing as I have 2 more years, 1.5 more years for my second bachelors, and then however long it takes to get my masters.

O and as for grades...skated through high school and made it into the top 6-7 percent. College is a different story, but I've been on the dean's list twice.

Better than Jr. High but worse than elementary. Ya get a lot more freedom in HS though.(and your social life is better! and you get a car!)

I assume that by "high school" you mean secondary school as it is called in Britain. And elementary is like nursery?
Anyway, I'm still at secondary - all right, highschool - and it's definitely a lot better than junior school cos I tended to make friends quicker whereas in junior I just wandered around the playground picking up pieces of sticks and delighting in ripping all the bark off them. Oh, and jumping on the grass until the teacher gave us detention for it.
I don't get into much trouble at high school, anyway, and in sixth form you get more free time. But it ought to get better at college. Hopefully.

School is just that - school. I think the enjoyment level is purely based on what you want to get out of it. For those social butterflies, it's great to meet people and make new friends. For those that thrive on learning, it's great too.
I've been out of High School for 7 years now and I fell into neither of those categories. Teachers were often wrong not only in getting facts wrong, but their grammar was terrible. For me, it made HS the last place I wanted to be.
Who wants to submit to the teachings of those that cannot even spell?

However, I'll go as far as to say it was my attitude that prevented me from getting the most out of it - or more than I did, in any case.
It's a small portion of your life. Do it. Accept it. Appreciate it.

Well, at first I thought it would be the best time of my life. The teachers, the classmates, my own feelings - they were all much better than they used to be in school. But as time passed, I started feeling that high-school is not so marvellous after all: crazy teachers showed up, friends tossed away our friendship and so on... But it is still better than school, though, and I'm only 17 yet, so they must be nice, adventurous years, I think. :p

My highschool years (7-10) were great - my closest friends today were made between late primary and through highschool, I two pretty big crushes :)D), I did well enough in the subjects I thought mattered, and I enjoyed it. College sucked though. I fell into a huge huge depression, and it didn't help that only two of my friends went to that college, and they never wanted to do anything other than sit around ugh!

I'd love to relive my college days. No, make that: I'd love to relive my highschool days, and redo my college days. *wistful sigh*

Well i like highschool (i'm in year 9 at Sydney Secondary Collage, LEchhardt, Sydney), sort of, it sucked all through year 7 and half of year 8 (school goes 7 - 10, than go to third senior campus) and know it's cool, and fun, but i'm not doin very well though, so i asked my parents to give me a tutor instead of Drum lessons, they havent told me yes or no yet, but i really want to.

Wow, i'm really suprised i actually said i LIKED highschool.
And that i said i WANTED a tutor, I feel proud.
lol

High school... well, I think it's interesting because I'm learning a lot of stuff. On the other hand, my particular school, while it's "good for you in the long run", is HELL in the short run. Taking AP classes starting in my freshman year wasn't all that appealing.

On the other hand, my senior year is pretty much relaxing year. But I do have to get through my junior year first - which is beginning in 1.5 months! The horror!

But overall, I think it's great - I'm learning a lot, making good friends, and I take time to relax 'cause I'm doing pretty good grade-wise. Can't wait until I'm in college, though.

I read in a book once that high school is another word for "purgatory". Or was it junior school? One or the other in any case.

Interesting comparison... I should write that down somewhere.

Socially, high school is not great; but that has been a constant throughout my life.

In terms of grades, I do pretty well. I finished the year with a 91% average, and Honours with Distinction. That's about the top 10% of the kids in my grade.
