The Original Fiction Mary Sue / Gary Stu Litmus Test

Basically a detailed (but not necessarily exhaustive) test to find out how Mary Sue-ish your RPG characters are.

http://www.onlyfiction.net/marysue.html

Note that some traits in the quiz certainly aren't Mary Sue-ish by themselves (duh), but when packaged with OTHER traits mentioned in the quiz, they form a boring, perfect, cliched, annoying self-insert/ semi self-insert character...RPers should know how much pain they cause to fellow characters/RPers :p

(Btw, I'm posting this here because more people - RPers included- come here so we can share more results with each other! :D)

So come on and post all your results (and character profile links), everyone! :D Be honest - we've all committed at least a few cliches in our lifetime! :p

------------

I tried testing three of my characters and I got :

Rosa : 29 (Created 2005) http://thefantasyforum.com/showpost.php?p=305944&postcount=9
Adrianna : 26 (Created 2005) http://thefantasyforum.com/showpost.php?p=367831&postcount=2
Lorelei : 13 (Created 2006) http://thefantasyforum.com/showpost.php?p=392761&postcount=2

I'm not even going to test my Sempai High character because that was MEANT to be a self-insert XD

Ya see the difference? YA SEE THE DIFFERENCE!?!? XD Skill comes with experience! XD

...

...

Time to go back to school and fiddle with boring litmus paper and universal indicators...XD

I may have committed a few of those cliches, but not very many. I'm not admitting which ones. :D

I scored 24 for Yana, but this test really isn't very comprehensive. Yana is a young human from a fictional society where high school doesn't exist, so two of the sections don't even apply to her. I think she's significantly more mary-sueish than this test shows. (The fact that the rp was set up so that all the characters were element-wielding magical prophets defending their sivilisations from dragons and from each other made that unavoidable.)

Yeah it's not entirely comprehensive, but I think the test specified that extra points should be added only if your RP character's traits are unusual compared to others in the story (aka Mary-Sue). You don't have to answer ALL the sections, you just have to pay attention to the categories your character fall under (e.g. if she's a high school student, ignore the "Non-human creatures" section)

You can find out how Mary Sue-ish your character is if it falls under a certain category (e.g. magical universe or a high-school setting) by calculating how "invincible" it is (aka how many different abilities it has etcetc). There's a link to another test at the bottom if you're still not that happy with it though.
