Shogun inhaled a deep breath as he took his stance in the center of his room. The sun was hardly visible on the horizon as he began his morning shadowboxing. School would be beginning tomorrow, he could hardly wait to see what would happen this year. Last year had seemed like it would never end, it started off with enough of a bang, super warriors and all. Then there were three alien invasions, a portal to an alternate reality opened*, all the tournaments and rivalries, their meeting with the people that had made Dead Dutchman the fighter he was when they'd met him, they'd met a ninja exchange student who'd begun Shogun's process of changing his style until it reached the new way he used now, and so much more. But not all of what happened last year had been simple fighting. They'd been hit with some hard curves too.

They'd lost a lot of friends to transfers and moves. Jnanee's family had left the city at the end of the year, couldn't handle the stress of the city. Firiath and Cyllieth had transferred schools, Shogun and the others still saw them from time to time, but the meetings were few and far between. Once they'd beaten the people that had made Dutchman he'd disappeared, said something about owing them all more than anyone could ever repay. To which Shogun replied that he just had to let them know when he came back into town. Lord Croanan, or Luther as he preferred to be called, had moved out of the city not long ago. He thanked the others for all they'd taught him, but hadn't told anyone what day he'd be leaving on.

These had all been tough days for the fighters, but none of them had hit the group quite as hard as Via. Shogun could still recall that day, halfway through the summer. He'd gotten the call that he needed to get to Via's immediately. Shogun hadn't asked questions, he barely remembered to put shoes on as he rushed to meet the others. He ran over all of the possiblities of what could have happened. Kidnapped, hurt, being assaulted, but it was worse. He'd been the last to make it there, he entered to see Via and Lillith crying in each other's arms, the others could hardly look at him. No one needed to say anything, the note from Via's folks did that pretty well.

That night they'd partied like they never had before, and no one went home in the morning. They all wanted to spend every second they could with Via. Even though Met kept up his usual personality, it was pretty clear that he was going to miss her as much as anyone. He showed this through performing numerous alchemy tricks he'd picked up. Nevertheless eventually the time came for Via to leave them. The goodbyes were teary, and everyone made sure to remind Via that if she ever needed help with anything, the fighters of Sempai High would be there for her in a heartbeat.

Shogun snapped out of it, that was in the past. As much as he and the others would miss Via there wasn't anything they could do about it now. With the new school year starting up one could only wonder what sort of chaos they'd find themselves in. Shogun went through the shower and got dressed before heading out, he had several people he needed to meet. Some of them were older friends, Lillith, Rosgwak, Met, but there were several that he still needed to give their official induction onto the Kung Fu team. Most notable of these were the transfers, Warlock Lord and Senekha.

Met had not been in school for the last few days. His ego needed some healing time from the loss at the hands of Super Shrew and his cronies, or as he would like to put it "fixing up his baby and sealing up his faults". He hadn't even bothered Lillith with any calls. It wasn't so long ago since Via had left, and he knew things were slightly touchy with her, so he left her alone, his little regard being slightly more effective when it came to her.

It was true in a sense. He had been to Soul Bane's laboratory nearly every hour of the last few days fixing up the mech, and helping the machines in their work wherever he could. The rest of the time he spent watching various videos seeing if he could pick up any useful new moves. On the whole...most of the stuff wasn't much better than what he could do...but he had a few new moves in his arsenal.

He finally decided that he should actually go to school, he really needed to go to schoolhe considering he didn't really need anymore problems with the school faculty than he was going to have now for not coming in for the last few days. Well...it was a fighting school in a sense, they had a little understanding when a fighter lost badly, but to them that meant not listening in class or turning up late.

Quickly whirling through his morning routine, he hopped out his apartment window and landed on the thick mattress he made at the bottom before making his way over to his bike in the apartment complex's garage, and riding off to school.

It wasn't long before he was at the school and put on his usual demeanor in front of the rest of the students. He made his way over to the Kung Fu team's training area, whilst making some of the students jump on his way there. He even managed to hear that apparently there had been a few transfer students. That would be fun he thought as he finally entered the training hall, and saw I.R. as usual in the middle of shadow training.

"Yo, sup Mr. Lack of social life because I only train" he said in I.R.'s direction before taking a seat he created near I.R. against the wall.

"Yo, sup Mr. Lack of social life because I only train" Met said in I.R.'s direction before taking a seat he created near I.R. against the wall.

Shogun smirked at this, "Well, I suppose it was either that or Mr. Lack of a social life for no discernible reason at all. Anyway, more of the same really, waiting for two of the new transfer students to arrive. I think you'd be interested in one of them, young woman named Senekha, I think she may even be tougher than Lillith, and she's got a hell of a right hook." Shogun saw that Met wasn't paying much attention, probably still reeling from his loss to Super Shrew.

Shogun himself knew what that was like. Super Shrew was a beast of a warrior, in all of their battles Shogun had never won by more than the skin of his teeth. Still, for Met that was a huge blow, it didn't help that it had been in his mech, his pride and joy. Met wasn't going to get over that loss until he got back into the habit of beating his enemies. Shogun wasn't too worried about Met either way, he could take care of himself. For the time being Shogun was more concerned with meeting Senekha and Warlock Lord and making sure that they knew the changes that had been made to tournament rules.

The biggest changes to the rules were the outright elimination of the vast majority of them. Tournaments this year could be more equated to organized street fights with time limits than they could with more conventional fighter gatherings. Not that the rules had been too terribly enforced in the past anyway, but without the honor guides they'd had before fights would very quickly get more brutal than they'd ever been. What was even worse was how wide the possibilities were for outside interference in matches now. Shogun knew that everyone would have to pay more close attention to matches from now on, just in case...

Senekha entered this new school with a sense of adventure - a new year, a new chance to p*ss off the instructors and re-do her senior year...

Walking through the hall, Sen noticed a classroom sign hanging off the wall, and with a grin jumpkicked it off it's supports. The sign clattered to the ground, causing one of the students in the nearby classroom to poke his head into the hall. He looked from the broken sign to Sen, from Sen to the broken sign.

"Ah," he said. "You must be one of the new transfer students." He looked at her quizzically. "Aren't you a little old for highschool?" he asked.

Sen chuckled. "Technically yes. Let's just say college was too boring - no excitement, no adventure. I've heard a lot about you folks here at Sempai High...."

In the very depths of Hell!
Slamming the door to her locker shut with almost a little too much force, Lillith grinned her vixen grin to herself. A small freshmen girl stopped and stared at her and she widend that grin "What?" SHe barked to the girl and laughed as the girl turned ashen white and ran off, not looking back. Chuckling to herself, she went back to her locker and opened it again. Actually, the slamming of the locker thing was an accident. She didnt mean it. It was just that anger got the better of her. And Depression. This summer was no the summer she wanted or she deserved. For one thing, she lost her best friend. No contact, not nothing.

When Lillith found out she was going to be alone this year, she was at home..er...grooming. As soon as the urgent tone in Via's voice alerted her, she was at her house in no time. It was no time that her friend was gone. In no time, he summer turned to mush, and in no time school had started again, without Via and without MaDnEsS!! Frowning, Lillith grabbed her books and started off down the hallway, looking around. School didnt start for another hour or so, but Lillith had gotten thier early to check up on her closet.

She took a seat outside in the sunshine, she sat back and closed her eyes.

Her and Via's farewell had been bitter- at least. They were crying and she knew Via only cryed when something REALLY upset her. Thats what lillith loved about her. Via will always be her best friend and her double. But she left and Lilith thought her left arm was totally gone. Her summer was nothing. sHe didnt take calls from anyone. Not even Rosgwak, who seemed to want to talk to her. Not even Met, who she liked to talk to so she could tease him. Not, none called her anymore. She worked at a small gas-station furiously. Not thinking, just working. But she couldnt escape anyone here. No she couldnt. They were everywhere. It made her laugh. She could get on with it. she didnt need Via. All this depression made her weak. sHe couldnt wait to get back into the ring, with or without Via. It will be another depression without her friend, but she'll deal. She couldnt give up fighting. Of course, now she'll either have to go into the singles or find another partner.

She snorted. Tough luck with that.

Crossing her legs and smoothing her hair back, she sat apon the bench as Lillith the Flirt and some say Whore (just envy) of Sempai. O well. She laughed and got up and walked acrossed to the Training area, where she knows I.R and Met at least, would be there.

There was a clatter that came from the hallway. Shogun normally would have ignored this, but the fact that one of the hanging signs had bounce past the door to the training room caught his interest. Then there was the voice that followed it. "Here's one of them now..." he muttered to himself more than Met as he stepped out into the hall. He looked at the sign, split clean in half, then he turned to the person that he had no doubt had hit it, Senekha.

By now several students had turned their attention to the new student, and as Shogun picked up the pieces of the sign more eyes turned toward them. He could already hear rumors being whispered, was Shogun going to fight this new girl? Who was she? Where had she come from? Where had she learned to throw a kick like that? So on and so forth. Shogun didn't care much. He'd known Sen was a bit of a lunatic when he'd given her the offer to join the team, that was the price he had to pay to rebuild the team after all the moves.

"Bout time Sen, I've been waiting," he said as he walked up to her, making sure to stay on guard in case she thought it'd be fun to have an impromptu sparring match then and there.

Met didn't look up as he heard the door open as someone entered the room. He didn't really much care, as he was staring at the ceiling, pondering -not on really anything is must be realised-. It wasn't until he caught the unique fragrance that was now in the room did he actually look to see who entered the room. Before he could stop himself, and his brain register that this wasn't the best thing to say, he said it.

"LIL! Why don't you come and sit on my lap". His face then screwed up in realisation of what he said, before he quickly composed himself and made as general a face as he could.

"Sure!" she replied to his surprise, but wasn't surprised when she pulled out her whip out of nowhere and cracked then proceeding to stick out her tongue out at him. All he could do was grin back and continue staring at the ceiling thinking of nothing much.

It wasn't long before someone else entered the hall. This time he actually bothered to look if it was someone interesting. Well, it wasn't really, but neither was it someone he actually had seen before, not that he remembered most people, but this one had a bit of an attitude from what it seemed. I.R. had to pick up broken pieces of a sign when this girl had entered.

'Oh? What's this?' he thought, 'someone trying to be a rebel like me?'. He noticed I.R. seemed alert even though the girl hadn't taken up any stance or anything similar. Was this one of those new transfer students?

"Yo, new girl" he shouted out, "stop making such a racket and just sit down" and with that placed his hand on the wall. Across the room, a seat seemed to grow out of the wall, to which he nodded towards it, indicating to her that she should sit there.

on mountain of fire, waiting for the ash to guide
With a smash, Plish banged his head on the ceiling, the loud alarm clock waking him in the middle of a nightmare. Muttering to himself and rubbing the top of his head, he tried to keep his feet after his jump off the high bed, still half asleep, and failed. With two new bruises, he stumbled his way to the bathroom to get ready for school; basically brushing his teeth and putting on a clean shirt, he had woken up half dressed. He made his way back to his room for a pair of socks and a pen, but stopped when he walked past the framed picture of MaDnESS! on his desk, Via and Lillith standing next to each other covered in a sheen of sweat and a few blood trails, and with something between a sad smile and a grimace, he turned his head, he couldn’t bear it. Retrieving his socks and pen, he quickly left the room and shut the door behind him, hurrying his way down to breakfast. He had set his alarm clock later than school started; knowing it would probably get him into trouble now or later, but he needed the rest.

Now jogging, Plish glanced at his watch, and then behind him to see if anyone was looking. He hadn’t meant to be this late; it was already half way through the first period of the day. With his luck, he’d be sent straight to detention as soon as he set foot on school grounds. With that that last thought, he doubled his speed and then abruptly slowed to a walk again. Sempai High was just around the corner, and detention would be better than those stupid orientations they make you go through, explaining to the class what you did over the summer. He spit into the street next to the sidewalk and continued walking to school.

Before he knew it, Plish had walked through the front gate of his school. Slightly taken aback, he glanced around at the milling students and the buses offloading batches of kids by the score. Glaring at his watch, he gave it a little tap and proceeded to the doors, not sure what to expect of the faculty. Once safely inside and a good two hallways away from the main office, Plish reasoned he had set his alarm an hour earlier than he had planned, which would explain why the stove clock didn’t match his alarm clock. With a sigh, Plish headed for the training room, nervous excitement flooding through him.

With a slowly fading grin, Plish pushed his way past a small group of students, about a dozen or so crowding the door to the training room. He frowned at small pieces of a sign scattered about the doorway, but entered without pause. To his dismay, Plish saw Lillith wit her whip out, facing Met’s direction, but when he saw her expression, his faded grin returned, slightly wider than before. It was good to be back. Looking about the room, he saw Shogun talking to an unfamiliar face, holding pieces of a sign. If anyone was to ask him, her expression seemed a little out of place, considering the circumstances she was in. Wiping the sleep from his eyes, more habit than necessity, Plish walked over to Met and Lillith.

“So what’s the new chick done to deserve a talk with the Shogun?” He asked, not to anyone in particular, but hoping for an answer nonetheless, his grin still on his face.

Kenshin was beaming with exitment. He had heard all about this school, and he couldnt wait to go and make some new friends. He had been training almost all summer, endlessly working on his attack and defence maneuvers. As he was walking down the street towards Sempai high, he couldnt help but wonder what this school would be like. He hoped he wouldnt make any enemies (as he usually somehow always did). Even though he was excitited beyond belief, he also felt extreml nervous. It built up in his gut and his first word at his new school was " BAAAATTTTHHHHHROOOOMM!"

After he go everything settled in the restroom, Kenshin began to explore the school grounds. This place was so much different from his dojo back home! The immensity of the place was overwhelming. So many people, doing so many different tasks. As he was traversing a new hallway, he came across a crowd of students. In the center of this crowd appeared too be a tough fighter with a broken sign in his hands, and a rebellious looking woman who seemed to be getting a scolding.
"Oro, a dispute already?" he thought to himself. This was not how he wanted his new school to be. He walked into the center of the occurence with a wide smile on his face.
" Come now everyone, why fight? Im sure the broken sign was an accident", for it looked very much like the woman had broken it.
Other students began to snicker at Kenshin's statement, and his cheeks turned as red as his hair.
"Hm, it appears ive made a fool of myself already. I didnt think it would happen that quickly. Oh well". He looked down at his schedule to see where his first class was.
"Excellent, of course it HAS to be right here." he muttered, and stalked into the room.
He saw an interesting fellow sitting near a woman with a whip. He approached the pair.
"Hi im Kenshin, pleased to meet you." he said with a smile.

Jezebel sighed to herself as she got out of her Jeep, she hadn't seen DQ's car yet. So without waiting for her old friend she went ahead and began to fallow the masses into the school. Her heart raced, she smiled to herself and hoisted her green book bag onto her back. Senior Year, finally! After, fighting giggling freshmen though the doors she made her way in. "DQ wear are you?" she mumbled. She looked up the hall, now to find the locker. She smiled, as rustling could be heard from her book bag. Carefully unzipping her back and pulling out a foot long paper dragon. People pointed as the small paper dragon took flight, again Jeze smiled and whispered

"Find my first class Necromancing , then come find me again.". The dragon flew off, being clumsy enough to fly straight into a boy head. Jeze blushed as she caught a look at the boy, who she though was quite hansom. She ducked away and looked to the walls that were lined with locks, trying her hardest not to be seen by the boy. She'd seen him once before, at enrollment. DQ had pointed him out and told her his name, she didn't remember it though. What she did know was that he was the captain of the school's Kung Fu team, she'd need DQ to introduce her to him later.

He'd been holding the pieces of a broken sign, and he'd also been talking to some girl who wore a somewhat scary grin as he did. She hoped he hadn't seen her, or if he had she hoped he hadn't connected her with the dragon, that would be an embarrassing first impression. Jeze kept moving through the halls, where the hell was DQ to show her around this place? As she continued through the halls she kept repeating one thing to herself, "Locker, 988 were are you?"

Shogun and Senkha were attracting a lot more attention that he was used to for something like this. Just as they started to move toward the training room a younger student, had to be a freshman, stepped between them and said, "Come now everyone, why fight? I'm sure the broken sign was an accident." Shogun would let that go, if only because the laughs that this kid brought to himself by doing that was more than enough for nothing more than he'd done. The kid hung his head as he entered the training area, must be a weapon team hopeful, Shogun didn't know him, and he wasn't built like a mage.

No sooner than the kid left Shogun had forgotten about him totally. But it didn't take long before someone else in the crowd caught his attention, sort of. He felt something bounce off the back of his head, there was a slight air to it, it smelled kind of like Dragn after a demonstration, magic... He turned around, for the most part he couldn't tell where whatever it was had come from, but she exposed herself pretty well. He knew she was Dragon Queen's friend, although she hadn't been able to introduce them at enrollment.

Shogun smirked as she ducked and speedily walked away, clearly embarrassed by what had happened. Shogun's grin widened, he'd have to see about meeting that one later. For now he had to get Sen acquainted with Met and Lillith, plus anyone else that was going to be instrumental in school defense this year. He entered and his smile only widened when he saw Lillith had her whip out, just then he heard Plish speak, “So what’s the new chick done to deserve a talk with the Shogun?”

Shogun was the one who answered this question, causing a jump from Plish, "Well she smashed up a sign pretty good, and decided she wanted to join up with the Kung Fu team." Plish turned with a stunned look on his face. Shogun kept grinning, then noticed the same kid from before, "Anyway, on to more important matters, this here is Senekha, she's got a lot of potential for the Kung Fu team. Who's this?" he asked giving a nod toward Kenshin.

"Bout time Sen, I've been waiting," the student who had come into the hall to invetigate the noise said. He had a guarded pose, and Sen judged that he was probably good at what he did. Still, though, the temptation to test his mettle right then and there was almost too great to resist. As she visually took his measure she saw him do the same, trying to judge her character or ability on this first meeting.

“So what’s the new chick done to deserve a talk with the Shogun?” a voice cut in, clearly addressed to Shogun. Another student had approached, and he looked curiously at Sen.

"Well she smashed up a sign pretty good, and decided she wanted to join up with the Kung Fu team." The newcomer turned with a stunned look on his face. Shogun kept grinning, and continued. "Anyway, on to more important matters, this here is Senekha, she's got a lot of potential for the Kung Fu team. Who's this?"

The Shogun's reply was lost to Senekha as she thought about testing this Kung Fu club leader's mettle.

Oh, the tempation...

Her decision was abruptly halted as a voice called out, "Yo, new girl! Stop making such a racket and just sit down." Sen looked over to find the owner to that rowdy voice leaning against the wall, arrogance written all over his features. Well, she thought, this could prove interesting...

Nodding her respects to Shogun, she strode up to the student who leant against the wall, stopping just in front of his face. "Hello," she said with an odd gleam in her eyes. Easy prey, her mind told her - then, No...I'll leave this one for later.

Instead, she asked, "I have heard tales of the fighters of this school - I hope I will not disappointed." With that, she flicked his smirking face with her finger, and waltzed across the room to sit down. On the floor.

As Soon as Lillith got into the room, of course a voice gleamed over to her "LIL! Why don't you come and sit on my lap" She grinned and looked at his crumpled face with satisfaction. At least he knew what was comming. With one fluid moment she cracked out her whip and smacked him. Laughing to herself, she looked over her shoulder at Shogun. Before she could day anything as in a greeting, He was preoccupied by a new face. Curiously, Lillith stuck back her whip and leaned next to Met, silently.

She looked tough. A tranfer student?

There were mutters all around. The broken sign..hnn..

Lillith sighed and looked at Plish "Broken sign? And She's a tranfer" Lillith muttered the same time Shogun turned and answered for her. Lillith grinned at the former manager of MaDNESS!! And looked back to the main picture. As Shogun pointed out another new person, Lillith turned to look. She shrugged and looked to IR "Another new kid..Kenshin I think he said" She grinned a vixen grin at Kenshin and turned to peer at Sen as she walked up to Met and said a greeting. Lillith examined her a bit and shrugged.

Tough? That would be a definate.

"I have heard tales of the fighters of this school - I hope I will not disappointed." She heard her say as she stalked back acrossed the room and sat down.

Lillith laughed and raised an eyebrow, looked at Met and nodded over to the new girl " I think I like her already. Spunky and tough" Sheblew a kiss over to the girl and stalked out of the room. Maybe she'll find Ros.

School. Eck. Its already started out fast.

Waking up, Rosgwak felt cool, polished wood under his head, and he frowned, pushing himself up from the piano he had fallen asleep at. Again! It seemed all too often in the last week that Rosgwak had fallen asleep at the piano, as he worked on a song. Sighing, he began collecting the sheets of paper sitting in front of him, and then stood up to collect the many hundreds more screwed up on the ground. Summer vacation had been quite an actiopn packed event, moreso than any vacation in his life so far. First there was the whole trouble with the portal to an alternate reality, then... the biggest and hardest hitting event... Via had left them all, forced to move away. An alternate reality and a battle, Rosgwak could handle... even relish to some extent. But the loss of Via had left a hole in all of their hearts, but especially in Lilith's. After Via had left, Rosgwak had tried calling her numerous times, thinking she may want to just vent some frustration to a friendly ear, but his calls had not been returned. After a while, he had given up, deciding to leave Lilith to her mourning, while he finally confronted his own. He hadn't been the closest of friends with Via, but her absence would still be sorely noticed, and so Rosgwak set about trying to vent his emotions the only way he knew how... music. But the damn piece he had spent so long working on still didn't have a finish! It frustrated him, after he'd written so much, to not have an end yet, and as such he'd spent the last week putting all his effort into the song.

Maybe I could skip school today... he thought, to try and finish the song.

But he quickly pushed that thought aside. It was the first day in a long time he could catch up with his friends... and Lilith... and he wasn't about to pass that oppurtunity up. And so, stowing the sheets music he had actually finished inside the piano case, he headed off to the shower to get ready.

--------Timeskip--------

Walking into the school gym, where Ros knew he could find at least Shogun, he was surprised to see most of the old group already there, as well as a newcomer, who was standing in front of Met.

"I have heard tales of the fighters of this school - I hope I will not disappointed." she said, before flicking Met on the face and then sitting down. Striding in from the doorway, Rosgwak smiled at her.

"Well, that all depends on how many good things you've heard about us." he called out to her with a laugh as he approached Shogun and held out his hand.

"I.R... it's been a while." he said, shaking I.R.'s hand with a friendly smile. Then, turning to Met, Rosgwak made a small bow. "And of course Meteorain... I thought that was you I heard yelling."

Turning back to I.R., Rosgwak called out to him. "So, who's the new girl, if I may ask? Oh... and, um, has anyone seen Lilith?" he finished sheepishly.
