Apparently, the Twilight Princess will be a multi-platform game; it's a GCN game that will also take advantage of the controller of the new Nintendo Wii. Take a look at this trailer:

What do you think of this recent development?

So Twilight Princess will now be on the Wii and not GameCube? That explains why they kept holding it back

No! Don't you pay any attention? It's going to be on gamecube, but will function slightly differently when played on Wii.

Actually, Nintendo is publishing a whole different version of the game for Wii (i.e. even though Wii will play GCN discs, there will be a seperate version for Wii). If you want the Wii-mote functionality, you'll have to buy the Wii version of Twilight Princess.

I absolutely hate the fact the are releasing two seperate versions of the game on two different consoles. I always thought Twilight Princess would be gamecubes "going out with a bang", and so i've looked forward to the GCN version. I will get a Wii eventually, so in the end i'm going to get both versions since I want to get the GCN version first since its more classic in the sense of Ocarina. Then sometime later when I have my Wii (grr I hate the name Wii too) i'll get the Wii version. Since if i'm getting a new system i might as well get a game i KNOW i'll like. Yes i will have already beaten the GCN version, but the Wii versions style in control is so different that it will still feel new.

Now what? Will Nintendo consider this the Wii addition to the Zelda universe and be lazy about releasing another one. Come on!

Some of the games have Oct releases an some Nov along with a Nov release of the system itself.....or so i heard. Im soooo hoping they dont pull the Xbox 360 crap with releasing the product in drips but flood the market immediately for Christmas.

If you try gamestop.com they have games already listed with dates.....not for the Wii itself however, unless i missed it somewhere

could be an estimated release date. I've learnt not to trust them they *always* push back if it's released before the date...something must be wrong with it ;) lol

Ok, I just looked at that post I said, and that was a good month ago. It is now, and this is a press release statement from Nintendo, that Twilight princess will be a launch game for the Wii, which will come out late November of this year.

Well, the nintendo website does say "Q4 2006" as the release date for the Twilight princess, but I personally don't think it will come in late November, though it just may. I suppose it will depend on the marketing campaign that Nintendo chooses to pursue.

My mum is the manager of a Game store here in Britain and she said that Twilight Princess will be released on the GameCube and Wii at the same time, so I think any time after the Wii release date is your best bet.

Your mum is absolutely right, which is why I don't think it will be released in late November. I postulate that it's release will be just before or just after Christmas. But, like I said before, it depends on the marketing campaign that Nintendo uses.

I have done some research into the whole game myself, and to me it looks very promising. Nintendo haven't brought out any new or interesting games for GameCube for some time which has had me worried. I have been very tempted to buy myself a PS2 for the sake of playing something. But my loyalty to nintendo will not waver as long as this game proves itself. I think the whole link/wolf thing is gonna be awesome, seeing as im a full werewolf fan, its very much being one. lol, dark forces have always inspired me to be some what of a stronger poerson than I once was and it this game is gonna be awesome. I had heard alot of rumour about Link finally getting some mail armor or something under his tunic, dunno if this is true, can anyone clarify his new look in TP?

N.B. (TP=Twilight Princess for those who are unknown to the acronym)

concept art and in-game photos have revealed that Link is definitely wearing a shirt of chainmail under his tunic.
