The only anime I've seen has been:

    Ghost in the Shell
    Cowboy Bebop: The Movie
    Blood: The Last Vampire

Out of those, Ghost in the Shell is my fave.

I highly recommend dagger of kamui to anyone who likes shows that go well with hallucinogens. Don't blame me if your head explodes while watching it. The show is cool even if you aren't stoned or drunk it is a classic after all.

Not really psychological just mind numbing visuals (for its day) and a decent (though a little far fetched at times) storyline. ie mark twain.

Actually I saw appleseed very recent, because I hadn't seen Ghost in the Shell 2 yet, I actually confused both. But it was a very good movie imo

For GitS you have to read the manga's aswell to understand what the movies are about. The movies are not really standalone

I dunno. I love the movies, and I've never read any of the manga. They make enough sense to me. Although I was familiar with the series before I saw the movies, so I don't know if that makes any difference.

If you watch the movies by themselves, you only really get a bit of the depth that GitS has to offer.

I haven't watched Appleseed yet...so it is similar to GITS?

Agreed, I had only seen the series before watching the movies. But I guess if I hadn't watched the series then the movies would have been very confusing since GITS has some complex materials -what with all the organizations and all.

I wouldn't say it's THAT similar..It's science fiction and it's about cyborgs talking very basic. That's two things they have in common...
