That depends what you mean with next generation. cause if you look at it movie wise, Luke is the only next generation there is so lol, there's not much choice

I voted for the solo children and Ben...if Anakin was up the list (I know why, he's dead...very original!) I wouldn't have voted for him, cause I was strongly against the fact they named him Anakin. Leia would never call her child Anakin. I also have my doubts if Luke would call his son Ben...I even doubt if he would have a child. George Lucas predicted that after ROTJ Luke would become a kind of Obi-Wan Kenobi character, so it's hard unlikely he would have children then...

Its also unlikely Mara Jade could fulfill her obligation to kill Luke Skywalker, and then marry him. I suppose that unlikeliness made way for Luke to have a family.

Luke has too much of a heart to be a loner his whole life.

I'm only saying what is G-Canon...and I prefer to stick at that...not that I don't enjoy EU, not at all...but some things seem unlikely. I thought there was a great exageration for when the Jedi were created. How slow technology progresses. If you think of it. KOTOR is set 3956 years BBY and there's hardly any progress. Like I said, it's all fun to read and play but many things are not credible...

I do agree that technology seemed to peak in the past, rather than the present. I mean, Kyp Duron flew a ship that destroyed suns, and that was a while ago in the Star Wars timeline. Why didnt they use that ships design and make more? Use it against the Vong? The Stealth-X fighters are kinda cool, but the capital ships seem stuck in the prequel era.

George Lucas had a more credible view on it, including the Jedi, the Sith and the Republic.

"I will not let this Republic who stood for a thousand years be split in two!"

Which means the Republic is 1000 years old or maybe a little older, but if you look at the Star Wars timeline it's 25,000 years old! Now that is deeply exagerated! G-Canon, the Sith rose 2000 years BBY, with the first member of the lost twenty splitting off and he created the Sith order. Again...credible....but no C-Canon its 130,000 years BBY...

Well, Lucas's vison only spanned 36 years (Episode 1-6). Its easy to keep continuity for that amount of time. True, he had some ideas that preceded this time base, but didnt elaborate much on it, left it obscure, until EU.

Well EU writers should be more careful with what they write, they already made earlier errors. Early errors such as Jabba being like a monkey-alien...Obi-Wan Kenobi the brother of Owen Lars, a love story between Luke and Leia...These were all corrected when EU was not so big, now things have changed so big that changing things for example setting back the rise of the Sith to the exact date of 2000 years bby would be too drastic as it would influence hundreds of stories and make them all inaccurate

Overall, I think they do a good job. Their are not many series out there trying to keep a continuous storyline spanding 100+ books, 6 movies, and comics on top of that.

I am curious to how the new stories come about. I mean, who decides what the next development will be? What character dies next? Surely, killing off Luke Skywalker wouldnt be in the hands of the writter, or is it?

Usually when any product of EU is created, they sent a huge question list to George Lucas, with just yes or no questions

can we do this? Can we do that? Can we kill him...This is also probably how Chewbacca's character was killed off.

Which "classic era" character do you think Lucas will let die next?

    My guess is Lando.

it's funny that you say that cause me and Padmé were talking about Lando's cut death in ROTJ....originally Lando was going to be a clone, one of the reasons Leia doesn't trust him. So it would have been ironic...a clone blowing up the death star.

I didnt know that about Lando. a clone? Go figure.

Im going to attempt to get on-topic by asking you if you think Jacen is really going to be the next Darth Vader. Do you think Jacen will surpass Vaders potental, given his study with Vergere, and his other studies?

Speaking of Vergere, her story truly must rank among the oddest.

Jacen, the next Darth Vader....I hope not...surely they can come up with something more original and leave the legend of Darth Vader alone. Vader aka Anakin was so strong because he was the chosen one...true Vader lost a lot of his strength when he was defeated on Mustafar, still he should still have the strenght to surpass any Jedi. I sure they don't mess this up, cause that way they could mess up what is shown in the movies.

I hope not either, but he does seem about to embark on the path of the Sith. But even so, I tend to believe he will not go as far to the dark side as Vader.

who knows, he'll either be redeemed or die, but to redeem him when he's about to die, would be totally unoriginal.
