I think the elf-hater's got a point. I collect all three kinds of elves for years now and so far the wood elves are my favourite. Games workshop wouldn't take em out cause they are much to popular.

indeed, ive been playing them ever since they came out. they are popular, and the imagery that games workshop could explore in regards to them would be huge. it'll be a shame if they go. i dunno if they do they might bring them back as a thing like the kislevites or something.

GW does plan on rereleasing them. They're supposed to be getting some new models, some rule changes, and possibly even a few new units. GW isn't really happy with the way the wood elves are currently being played. They want the woodies to be more fun for everyone and also fit into the new 6th edition fluff better, however, they arent real sure what to do yet. Last I heard, the wood elves were scheduled for a Spring 2005 release (stinks, I was hoping they would have been out sooner for me to pick up again). I have a feeling they will make something up to get the wood elves moving beyond the boundries of Athel Loren and that they will play somewhat similarly to the new Beasts of Chaos.

Also, the latest rumored release line up is as follows: Brettonians = now, Various Storm of Chaos models = Spring '04- Summer '04, Summer SoC Campaign = Summer '04, New Ogre Kingdoms Army = Fall/Winter '04, Wood Elves = Spring '05.

    Cheers,
    -Flik

They do it every time they re-release. In the new edition there'll be (very) basic army lists for most of the present armies (perhaps even all). Then they'll start releasing the army books again over a period of 3-7 years. A year or two after everything's finally done BLAM new edition again. That's why they don't wait and release it all at once, gotta keep the cash-flow and interest up.
