heads up people, according to another site the staffs will be here by january
What will your first staff be, Aramir? Mine will undoubtedly be Saruman's.
i think ill choose to get the white staff first, although a lot of people find it quite boring i think its a fantastic piece of work \o/
I'll be picking up Saruman's as soon as it comes out. :draught:
When will pre-orders be taken??? Swordsman?
As soon as UC lets us know the official dates that we can start to take pre-orders we will let everyone know ans start to take them.
I think I will get which ever one comes out first, then get the other staff when it comes out, unless they both come out at the same time, which I would be surprised if they did. I do like the white staff of Gandalf the White best, but I like Gandalf the Grey's staff with the crystal in it, as well. Saruman's staff is cool too, though.
(I hope I wont be banned from Fantasy Forum for saying this) but The Noble Collection has released a gandalf the gray staff, great looking, but very very expensive. just go to their website and check it out.

O and i like you Radiohead icon too hybirdk03.
Yeah, I have their catalog. All of thier LOTR stuff is high, and they are not as true to the movie weapons as UC. Arwen's sword is a good example. Never the less, it may be the only place to get Gandalf the Grey's staff. UC has only mentioned making Gandalf the White's staff and Suaramon's. Swordsman, may be able to shed some light on this question. :devilbat:
You won't get banned. I have no problem discussing the Noble stuff. ANd I wont trash tem either. From a collectors point of view they will not be producing the swords in true scale. they are higher priced as well. Well made in all respects but a bit glitze for me. United on the other hand will be producing many more swords of different types including, staffs, full size helms, possibly shields. So from that standpoint I would rather go with United.
Bottom line, If you want a full scale weapon reproduction of excellent quality, selection, and to scale as the movie props, and plan on getting most of that collection go with United. IF you want something more glitze and higher priced go with Noble.
What's Noble's Gandalf staff made from, does anyone know?
I don't exactly know what the substance is, but I'm pretty sure that it is made of the same material that the movie prop was made of. The movie prop was not made of wood, they tell you that in the extended edition of fotr.
-crazy man with the urge to toss dwarves
It's made a heavy resin and finshed to look like aged wood. It's also fairly heavy...about 6 pounds.
Would it be delicate or easily damaged, do you think? I think you'd need to be fairly careful with it.
I just had a look at their site, it seems they won't even ship outside the US! Not fair!
i think they do Witchking, but you have to ring the company phone number, cant do it over the net, they gave me a shipping quote on a few items so its worth asking if you want the staff
Whereabouts in the world are you? I'm in Ireland. I know for a fact they ship jewellery, I got a couple of quotes too for stuff.
I think it's to do with the size of the thing - it's 66" long!
http://webhome.idirect.com/~tk421/sstaff.htm This is a site that has Saruman's staff. I dont understand if this is taken off considering that uc hasent even created any staffs yet.
All in all it's pretty solid, and it has a very hefty feel to it. The staff seems to be molded all in one piece, except for the crystal at the top. That area at the top, where the crystal is surrounded by the "branches" is probably the most fragile part...but only if one plans on smashing orc skulls with it.
