Looking at the size of the mace being wielded, you would have thought that when Eowyn got hit by the thing her whole arm would have been ripped off...because the thing looked like it weighed as much as an elephant and it was the size of a boulder!

but the thing was cool, cos it amazed me to see a thing of that size being wielded, i wonder how Eowyn felt when she thought, "is he really going to used that thing?"

I first saw the witchking's ridiculously oversized mace on the LOTR weapons forum a few days before the movie came out. I thoughts there was no way they would include it in the film, but they did, and it didn't look bad either.

His helmet looked better than I expected. There were some pictures of it out for a while before the release, but seeing it in the movie made a difference.

I dont think there anything wrong with it. It was fine in the movie. I saw pictures before and they did skew the picture around, so it looked off. It doesnt matter that it isnt possible to wield, the witchking is not alive... nor dead... he can prolly do a lot more than that. Just my thoughts.

That flail of the witchking was freaky huge, but it looks more believable on film than in a still picture. Did it ever mention in the books if the Ringwraiths had above average strength? That thing must've weighed huge!

I know this doesn't really matter but isn't the witch kings weapon a flail? I'm no expert
but any weapons site I go to the mace's are all attached to a solid handle and flail's are attached to the handle by chian???

Yes, you are correct, in the movie it was a flail... the thread is named Witchking mace, but it is a flail.

i loved the Witchking's flail, and its realistic to LOTR, cuz all the dark lords and their personal servants have posessed and used oversized, gruesome-styled weapons, for example : Grond the hammer of Udun (which was massive even in the hands of the titan Morgoth) and the Mace of Sauron that could fling like 20 elves and men this way and that like mere leaves blowing in the wind.

Lol, if they had shown him killing someone with that, I doubt you would see all that much. It's basically just going to break everyone bone the dude had, and then force all these organs out. I wonder if the person would be driven into the ground. Hmm

On a technical note concerning how the Nazgul inspire terror, there's a reason all the Rohirrim scatter after seeing their king thrown under his horse. Even if the Witchking had been on foot, or horse, he probably wouldn't have had many opportunities to whack enemies with the flail.

Well, he could have hit dead bodies. They can't run.
