I am just as disappointed as everyone else at the upcoming, staff breaking of Gandalf (described in Weapons and Warfare), but you can see the Witchking's flaming sword here:

    http://www.lordoftherings.net/index_downloads.html

This actually is in the book!

Boromir, the flaming sword is actually in the book (the footnote of the post); what I was disappointed with was the PJ invention of the breaking of Gandalf's staff. Tolkein made it clear that the breaking of a staff was the equivalent of the removal from the order of Wizards (Istari), that is in fact what happens to Saruman.

Boromir, stop being a knob, he's just pointing out a fact, and trying to have a conversation. If your going to treat members this way your more than welcome to leave.

I have to agree with Elan, with this... LOTR Fan was only just expressing his thoughts on the matter... Which are right at that...

I have been reading these boards for well over a year now, and being a member for around 9 months, even though i choose not to write or respond to stuff on board, doesn't mean what i enjoy to read and take it in, has to be spoiled by a stupid little 13 year old, with a attitude problem, simply replying with deconstructive posts which has no relation to the topic and only meant to cause trouble!

I enjoy reading everyone’s views on different topics because I know of no one who knows every thing concerning the LOTR’s, so its brilliant when someone like yourself can contribute to the conversation and inspire and educate others… So let’s leave this pettiness behind and enjoy the boards…

No harm done Boromir - but do try to grow up a bit! Or at least spell things correctly!

Anyway - the shot does look pretty impressive heh? December here we come!

Curunir's bane - those are very impressive pictures!!!! The second link is the one that I was referring to and Jessehk the link is to the main Desktop page - click on Return of the King EE and it is the second picture (there was no separate page for this).

Wow about that first page (from Curunir) when will that battle take place? Must be somewhere in the Pellenor fields?

Also on the above link - is it me or do the pictures seem to make the Battle on the Pellenor fields take place at night - if so, score one for the purists out there!

Wow, they're cool pics. I cant wait for this EE ! I sorely missed the Gandalf/Witch-King encounter, they're two of my favourite characters. Plus, why did they have the Witch-King saying "I will break him." in regards to the White Wizard if they don't put the scene in ?

LOTR Fan, the first one or the one with the fire all around gandalf and the with-king is more than likely the same scene where they confront each other. I just saw the comic-con preview yesterday and i noticed that after the withc-king's sword flames up they show a wider view of the fell beast in front of shadowfax and there seems wind starts swirling around them. So i am assuming that the sword lights up and the witch-king creates like a cirlce of fire around them.

Photobucket.com has comic-con screencaps and for some reason my computer won't let me get to it because it is on my favorite's menu. So tomorrow i will post the link.

Hey, thanks Curunir's Bane, these pictures are getting me even more excited about December. And hey, Saruman is there too, and is that flaming ball thing supposed to be Orthanc's palantir ?

Nope, at least not from what i can tell. In the movie it shows the fireball coming from saruman's staff and hitting the ground. But when I looked at the screen caps I actually saw that gandalf was right where the flaming ball hit which looks pretty exciting to me.

So, just to clarify, I believe that it is just a flaming ball that saruman shuts at gandalf and not the palantir.
