Internet Explorer 8 keeps hanging and/or crashing on my upgraded Win7 laptop, and a workmate's new OEM Win7 laptop.

    Is google working? :p

Have a look at this, Mubs. It may well provide for some solutions. It "seems" there's issues on the Windows 7 platform between IE8 and 3rd party programs. MS provides a fix, maybe that'll work?

as a retailer i've encountered some problems, mainly with australian software. it seems that windows 7 isnt compatable with any of our prepaid providers, secondly, compaq are having issues with their last laptop before the release

Hmm - is that a 64bit issue - or just general Windows 7, JIM?

I know there are a lot of wireless network // wireless internet hardware providers, who struggle with getting their drivers for 64bits right - or allocating the resources for making their drivers :)

its windows 7, according to telstra they will not change their prepaid usb modems to fix something that isnt broken, they had their system first and windows will have to adapt (yeah right)
they have made a new prepaid modem that is compatable, but instead of being $99 it is $199

I've got all the latest Windows updates but thanks anyway Jim. I might try Firefox for a while whilst keeping my eyes out for any more IE updates.

I do not like Windows 7.

Much preferred Windows XP, though Mac simply wins.

I find 7 ugly, difficult to use at times (stuff I just can'y find, WHY ARE THERE 2 PROGAM FILES FOLDERS!?) and loads of other stuff; slow, takes up quite a lot of RAM, (is Windows), ...

    Chrome is the fastest browser
Firefox and Opera are the safest
    Firefox has the most add-ons
Firefox, Chrome and Safari are the most advanced
    I prefer Safari.

I've been using Windows 7 for a long time now and love it! It's probably the best OS I've ever used. I'd recommend this to anyone, and it's much better than all the other Windows OS' in the past. Let's not mention Vista.

I think when a windows has user interface and is safe there is no other problems! u should learn to use it! here people who use mac can't even look at windows and the people who use windows are the same! I think we should put our windows xp's down and go with the technology!
I'v been using 7 and at first it's hard but then u really enjoy how easy every thing is! :D

    Windows 8 now.

Much better than 7, although I got a bit confused with it: you need to use the Hot Corners for certain things, but you have to discover them yourself. The start button is not there so that gets really frustrating. Once you've made a rectangle on the home screen a square you can't turn it back. Turning it off takes too many clicks.

So I prefer 8 over 7 and xp, but xp over 7.

Personally, and I might be bias, since I was with Microsoft with the roll out of WIN 7. I had to get to know the bones of the program, because it was my job to train others on it. I really do like it, from an Artist POV; it runs my programs and my Cintiq without getting bogged down. XP was a wonderful system, but I feel that the last of the Win 9x line, well that dog has had it's day. Programs are bigger, OS's aren't as streamlined anymore.
Don't get my wrong, I started on a MAC, I have a lot of respect for them...heck all I am missing is a Mac book. Though Windows isn't completely customizable like Linux, I can rig my bio's to work for me. I am excited about Win 8, I have only just read about it. However, I don't plan on buying it unless it comes in the Family pack! :p

Windows 8 Pro will be priced at $199, with a promotional price (?) at $69.

I see that Microsoft is following Apple's lead.

The main problem with any program, as well as Windows 7, is price, at least for me. So download all the porgs :d
Win 7, is nice. Not sure about win8 tho. Win 7 is bit slow and laggy, but overall nice to use, but I hate that all os are not user friendly. I wish win7 would be more customamizableafsafagaga

Windows 8 doesn't seem to have improved upon the beta I used at one point. There is a whole post by this guy who wanted to like it, about how he just hates it, uninstalled it and counsels people not to buy it.
I've only ever used it to play with, and would prefer to use Ubuntu over Windows any time.

@Hater`: for customisation and speed, Ubuntu is what you want, although it doesn't have as many programs for it as Mac and Windows.
