I voted yes, thinking the question was will it beat FotR and TT...but will it beat everything? maybe. The trailer looks awesome. I am walking over to the movie theater after school on the 17th (is it 17 or 18th?) of december and watching it twice in a row...then ill go back the next day and watch it again.

And IMO, anyone who thought Titanic was an excellently good movie is a :tool:
Alright movie, but not that great.

"I'll never let go" as she pries his cold, dead fingers from her hand....so stupid.

I gotta believe that nothing will ever beat Titanic in total sales. It may a stupid amount of money thanks to all those little girls. But I wish it would, cuz i believe that ROTK will be the best movie ever. Period.

I havent seen Titanic and hopefully newer will and the RoTK movies have turned me into a huge fan already so - I hope so, I really really hope so, but its such a volatile industry who knows? If it dosent happen I heard Chris Lee is talking about resigning from the Academy - no it would be all too sad. Lets keep hoping!

Another question is will it receive best picture Oscar. I would give it that any day but the Hollywook higherups that vote have a different agenda. As for it taking out Titanic, I think it has a slight chance, but itll be really hard. What will help is its the closing to the trilogy and people who have been introduced to the LOTR and have fallen in love with it (like me) will want to see this, on top of the long time Tolkien fans. We can only hope.

There were 300,000 at the wellington premier. I would say this will be the biggest movie in cinema history for quite a while.

I voted maybe..afcourse I really hope so..I think the film has not only been great for tolkien lovers and film fans but also great for the people who made it cause they have put so much effort in creating this movie in it's finest detail and became a familly because of it. I think it's going to be a legendary film in respect to both Tolkiens brilliant story and the movie makers..I don't care what the critics say. I just love every aspect of all three films

Well folks, it's on its way! ROTK made over 250 million dollars as of Monday. Woot! Hopefully it can keep up the pace. But in retrospect, it doesn't really matter if it does make it to the top or not, much as I would like it to. It's the best movie I've ever seen and that's it.

    Film finance tracking site

Box Office Mojo is a neat site with info on tracking the box office takes for movies, both domestic and international.

    http://www.boxofficemojo.com/

    Here's a clip from a December 22nd article:

"To put its debut into further perspective, after just five days, Return of the King already ranks as the 171st highest grossing picture worldwide of all time. The haul represents 28.8% of The Fellowship of the Ring's $867.7 million worldwide total and 27.0% of Two Towers' $924.8 million. All told, the franchise's lifetime box office surpassed $2 billion."

    I vote yes!!! :draught:

i would enjoy Titanic going down but even enhancing Arwen and Aragorn's love story wont be enough for the idiots that watched Titanic fifty times.

I know it made the 250 million the first weekend, which is a whole bunch, but I don't know how much Titanic made it's opening weekend......

if that's the case, i'm already at 2 of 4. Famous Players Movie theatre company might show it in IMAX like they did last year for TTT. it was $11 but worth it.

I didn't see Titanic in the theater, or even on video, I saw it on TV (Ha! they made no money off of me), and I hated it. The fact it has made more money than any movie ever is an insult. I picked absolutely, because if RoTK doesn't beat that terrible movie, there is no justice!

Exactly! Take your friends, relatives, even people you don't know! If they see it enough times they'll have to like it... :D
