Curious to see peoples favourites and why.
My vote went to Jon Snow, Ive loved his character from the start and hes the easiest to relate too, i guess, he represents more a "common man" than the other characters. And plus, hes a member of the Nights Watch, and the Nights Watch rule. And he has the coolest direwolf
Ordinarily I'd have voted for Jon, but it was a hard choice. I ended up voting for who had me the most interested up to where i've read, and that is Tyrion. I love his attitude
Wow...that was an incrediably tough decision for me...between dany and jon....but i went with jon....because i can relate more to him......though i must say...that i love ready tyrion's viewpoints....lol
I voted for Other, mainly because I love the Hound. Of those listed though I think I like Jon the best. His wolf is awesome.
I picked Tyrion. I don't think I can put my finger on exactly what it is about him that makes me like him so much. I just know that I get more excited to see that chapter with his name at the top then anybody else. After that Dany and Arya are a close tie. Jon is a distant fourth for me. Bran could be way up there if more was written about him. I'm looking forward to whats going to come of Bran. Brienne is pretty cool too. and of course the Hound is awesome. To tell the truth I like just about evry character (Except Cersei and well I don't really like Sansa at all) I must agree with people feeling that they might be becoming a little obssesed with these books.
Well, that's a wee bit difficult to narrow down...
Tied for 1st: Arya Stark and Jaime Lannister (and Rhaegar, of course )
2nd: Tyrion Lannister
3rd: Bran Stark
5th: Sandor Clegane
Jon used to be my fav, but I don't like him much any more... Well, actually, let's put it this way. I like everyone except Cersei. But honestly, Jaime and Arya are my two favs.
Tyrion if I had to choose just one. He makes up for what he lacks with his cleverness and wit! But I do like little Arya she's a ball of fire that one :devilspin
Jon stillrocks untill hes dumb in his own POV chapters... just like Cersei is
Yeah, but if you've read the Sam chapters from AFFC, you might understand why he's not exactly my favorite anymore...
Uh oh, that doesn't sound good
I don't get AFFC til Christmas, but now Im worried one of my fav. characters has turned into an ass.
Everything is ass like from a cerain point of view
my point is that if yiou are ass like in your own point of view you are an ass
My Favorite, though has always been Jaime Lannister... through his highs (his excelent conversations with Brienne of Tarth) and his Lows (His attempted murder of Bran) he has always been the embodiment of the series idea that there are no good guys or bad guys... only guys.
Jon Snow has always seemed too firmly in the good guy camp. although his actions in AFFC may show a change from this...
I agree COMPLETELY. There's something so "lovable" about ole Sandor. I do, however, DESPISE the Mountain That Rides.
Of the choices, I'll go with Tyrion. He's just so damned entertaining. Also a fan of Jaime and Jon though. Truly, the appeal of the series is there are so many dagnabbed AWESOME characters.
Thats completely true. Almost all the characters are ones that you can relate to in some way and even the guys you don't always like you get caught up by Martin in "rooting" for them until you remember who it is that's being written about. But Tyrion is just so smart and dirty. And as for Jaime I kinda like him but I just can't find it in me to see him as someone who could be a fav.
Elan, don't worry - there are plenty of people telling me that I'm being an idiot because we haven't heard things from Jon's PoV yet. It's just my opinion.
OK, reasons I like Jaime:
1) Totally badass
2) Definitely ambiguous - there's lots of character discussion you can do with him.
3) He's not so "good" or "bad" that you hate/despise him.
4) His past is very, very interesting - he's despised for being the Kingslayer, but we all know that Aerys II was more than a little bit insane. I think that Jaime's PoV chapters in SoS and AFFC revealed quite a bit about his history and reasons for his actions, all of which make me love him. Besides the whole incest deal and throwing Bran out the window, there really isn't anything about Jaime I really dislike.
Even the incest isn't that terrible in the grand scheme of things... when you hear about them they do actually love each other. This has just become a little perverse and twisted (perhaps due to there upbringing)
Warning!!! AFFC Spoiler! Highlight to read.
Yes, but it's kind of obvious that Cersei doesn't love Jaime from what we read in the Cersei chapters in AFFC. Or more accurately, she loves him, but she loves herself more. There's also speculation on the aSoIaF boards that Cersei convinced Jaime to join the Kingsguard so that she could inherit Casterly Rock, as she was born before Jaime.
that point is fair enough.... I have always thought that and think cersei is a dumb bitch.
