Well from my name, I think its kind of obvious :p

He is my favourite character because parts of his personality and character remind me of myself. He is inquisitive (sometimes a little bit too much haha), he is faithful to his friends, energetic, expressive, brave and overall just awesome. I think the films portray him in a more comical way slightly dopey manner, but I still think he still has all these attributes and he is just all round awesome.

So who is your favourite character and why?

Candy Quackenbush, the protagonist in Clive Barker's Abarat books.
Though I'm a guy and obviously Candy is a chick, a teenage girl to be exact, she's just one of those rare characters that won me over right from the start. She's desperate to leave her small town in Minnesota and boy does she ever get her wish, in spades. She is anything but heroic, but almost has no choice as events conspire against her. Great books, great character to follow... and Clive Barker better get his ass writing the third installment of the series!

Oops I meant in Tolkiens books, but she sounds pretty cool, plus with a name as amazing as that how can you not like her :D

I loved The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, but never really felt connected to any of the characters.

    Mat Cauthon?

This is a Tolkien related favourite character thread. My favourite is Samwise Gamgee, and on the side of evil it would be Gothmog (the orc, not the Balrog).

I'd have to say Gandalf was probably one of my favourite Tolkein characters though it was a tough choice.

I've always had a crush on Aragorn, so I guess he's my favourite Tolkien character. He's so manly and strong and *squeee* ;)
    Gandalf has the second place!

Gandalf he is such a mysterious charachter:) And one of the five ishtar too. I like wizards, so it was a easy choice for me. But when i was younger it was Legolas.

As a kid I was always a Legolas fan, he seemed to be just a total boss, AND he walked on snow. As I've gotten older, I think I relate more to Gandalf and I now like him the most.

Elrond ~ because he's a warrior, a healer and very wise, was born half-elven and had the choice to be of men or elves. Has lived in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Ages so is a constant throughout Tolkien's books. As my reserve I'd have Thingol (Elwë) Elrond's great, great grandfather.
