United Cutlery is insane for dropping the LOTR sword line!-It must have brought them tons of new customers! Myself, I've never purchaced a UC product (or any sword fro that matter) until the LOTR swords came out-now I have three! I never would have boughta UC product if it weren't for LOTR and now that the line isdiscontinued I probably never will again-unless UC lucks out and gets a contract on the wheel of time series (assuming this ever makes it to film). How many other people are in this same boat-never a UC customer before LOTR. Maby if enough of us speak out they'll reconsider.

I had never even heard of United Cutlery until I began searching for Lord of the Rings Collectables. Now that this line has been discontinued, I will probably also cease buying from them.

THey probably did it because now that the movies are completed the sales are going down because all the hype is over

Sales were actually pretty strong still.

Anyways. Construction wise, Kit Rae's line by UC is as high of quality as UC's LOTR line. They're obviously themed differently, but they're much cheaper and still look as good on a wall.

I disagree--LOTR has the bonus of being from a movie--and none of the swords seem overdone--they look like real weapons. Most of Kit Rae's stuff is a bit too typical of the fantasy genre. Lots of showy spikes and stuff, not the kind of swords that would have been carried into battle during the dark and medivial eras in europe. LOTR swords on the other hand have a subtle and purposeful look to them that I just love.

Thats what I mean about being themed differently.

The point I was trying to make, was that, style aside, kit rae swords are as high of quality as the LOTR line.

Point taken---I'm still in mourning over the loss though. And despite quality, I don't think Kits swords are for me
