its nice that some actually has the same feelings as me. I made a friend read it and she said it was boring!

How can someone call such a book boring?? :faceit:

My father always told me that the Silm. was annoying, badly written and a real turnoff. He stopped reading after thirty pages. I still can't believe that man is my true father.

Hehe, those are the kind of people you prefer not to know.
I went to the first movie with my Girlfriend, big mistake. she kept
goin on about the tiniest imperfections like ''they made the elvenears to pointy''
and ''the green of aragorns sword doesn't match the colour of his tunic'' I am not kiddin!

needless to say I went to the two towersby myself, much to her dismay.

We live in a generation where people's attention span is very much lessened compared to our grandparents. I think one thing that is unique to true Tolkien fans is that they love the long detailed novels. My poor uncle was trying to read it and then I saw him at McDonald's and he came up to me and said, "Anduril, tell your mom I'm about half way through the book, but I'm more of a Sherlock Holmes short story man myself."

I had to vote for the Hobbit. I love them all, but it was the first book my dad ever read to me. I just remember being so excited to go to bed and hear Bilbo's adventure that night. That's just a sentimental reason though :) but it is my favorite nonetheless!

I voted TLotR as that is the only of the options that I have read all the way through.

As much as I love LotR, I have to go with the Silmarillion. It's masterful.

    I like all of them.
The LOTR is my favourite, although i realy like the explanation of Tolkien's universe through the Silmarillion and The Lost Tales.

Oh, I'm an Unfinished Tales fan. Narn I Hin Hurin's my favourite, though there is so much more background in that book... But since it isn't in... I had to go for the Sil. I was awstruck after (while) reading that book. I didn't realise that there was just so much more to Arda then LoTR!

I love them all but the silmarillian got my vote because it goes into so much detail.

Like them all, although like Turambar, I love Unfinished Tales. I love all of the HoME series, but my vote goes to the Silmarillion for this one.
