I absolutely adore the World of the Wheel....it has such depth and fascinating peoples. The magic is so much more vivd here than in, lets say, Middle earth (alhtough that does brim with enchantments also!)

Well I'm fairly limitated in terms of 'worlds' but I'd have to say Krynn would be most interesting to me. Main reason is that it's not too far fetched that I'd die trying to survive there, but it's so interesting. With Dragons and Gods and everything!

Krynn is a world created by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. A masterpiece if you will.
Have a read of DragonLance and you will see why.
DragonLance is brought to us by Wizards of the Coast (who ofc are marvellous).
Start yourself off with Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Dragons of Winter night, then Dragons of Spring Dawning. If you enjoy them as much as I did, move on to the Legends trilogy.
    Hope that helps :D:D:D

I read them out of order. I thought DOSF came after DOSP. I realized this after I bought the book.

Probably Westeros, because it's quite like our own but magical. Then I'd have to go with the Dune universe. Then I'd go for R. Scott Bakker's world, not sure that it has a name, it's pretty brutal though.

I'd like to visit the drow so it has to be the forgotten realms-world... but I'm not sure I'd like the other elves in it, the ones in middle-earth seems more friendly. But then if I was an elf I wouldn't have that problem, would I?

I totally agree with you, but I would want to be a Valheru or like Pug and have abilities to travel the Universe of Fiest!!! SWEET!!!

Either Arda or Discworld, I think. Westeros or the Six Duchies would be next on my list.

In order of favorites: Arda, Discworld, Westeros, and WoT. Although I love Sara Douglass, Tolkien's Arda is so much more... oh, I don't know, but to me, it's the most vivid, expansive world out there. Of course, I'm amusing myself by world-building... :D

    Damar.

Has anyone read The Hero and the Crown or The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley? I read them when I was young so they're a little adolescent now, but still very good. Especially if you're a horse lover.

And Westeros? Maybe. But you know as soon as you started getting popular in your town you'd just get killed off...

I think my absolute favorite is Arda, followed by Earthsea. The cartography is really nice (the ocean and all those little islands), the dragons are cool and I love the characters because even if they are mighty wizards or extraordinary in another way they are still very human and have an everyday life apart from their adventures.
I also like Otherland very much, the idea behind it really fascinates me, and I like the connection between fantasy and sci-fi.

Oops, forgot about Otherland and Earthsea. Both were very rich worlds as well, especially Otherland. I loved that series...

And yes, I have read the Damar books, but IMHO, they're just not the same as Arda...

I haven't read any books with Otherland or Arda, so it's hard for me to compare. Which series are they (Cause I'll definately add em to the list!)?

I have to say, Middle-Earth is near and dear to my heart.

But I love Westeros (and the rest of Martin's world). So complex.

Arda is Tolkien, and Otherland is Tad Williams. :)
