again i did make the point that dany does think varys should b killed
She thinks the Lannisters should be killed as well, which would include Tyrion.
Yeah but rumour of his crimes i.e. killing one of the biggest threats to her return may make dany pause for a moment.
"May." I'd rather think that she'd try to get her dragons to flame Tyrion... but then again, Drogon seems to be out of control these days, so we'll see.
the dragon is not dead cru. ur just being an ass, but thats cool i can respect that.
Nah, Drogon isn't dead. Want spoiler proof?
Nice topic! I had not thought about Varys at all, to be honest.
Good reason to re-reread AFFC.
I never made the Alleras-Sarella link either. Good thinking.
But if he is really Sarella, why didn't I read anything about not all the Sandsnakes being caught?
And how is it possible a girl pretending to be a joung man for over a year?
This might be really stupid and/or already said, but I thought Varys had a sealed letter from Ned Stark for John snow? I thought in this letter he would finally learn that he is in fact the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna... Maybe Varys (and Tyrion) are traveling to the Wall to see John?
Nah Tyrion is on a ship leaving Westeros, isn't he?
At some point a new chapter from Dance of Dragons was posted. I'm pretty sure Tyrion ends up in Pentos with Illyrio.
I don't think there was any mention of Varys. What gave you the idea that he had a sealed letter from Ned to Jon though? That has potential!
I know we don´t post spoilertags on things from the first four books.
But shouldn´t we at least spoiler things from the preview chapters?
Not for my sake. I have read that preview chapter lots of times. Tyrionchapters are my crack cocaine
But at least let other people speculate on Dance in peace.
When Varys visited Ned in the black cells, Ned asked Varys if he could write a letter.
We don´t know if Ned ever wrote the letter or what it said or what Varys did with the letter if it exist. Varys told Ned that he would read the letter, and send it only if it fitted in with his own plans.
Later in the chapter Varys suggest that Ned confess his treason and go to the wall, and spend his life with Benjen and Jon. But Ned only thinks of Jon when Varys mentions him. We don´t know if Jon where the one Ned wanted to write to earlier in the chapter. But when Ned starts to think of Jon we do hear interesting things. How he want to sit down with Jon and tell him things he should know.
Varys leave the cell in the end of the chapter. This is the last thing we hear about Ned before he is executed in Aryas POV. We don´t know if Varys came back later with the pen and paper Ned wanted to write his letter. It is quite probable that he did. Varys likes his information, and such a letter would be to sweet a opportunity to miss.
It is all wonderfull food for all sort of speculation. Nice to see how George set up things like that all the way back in game of thrones
I think I'd like to see ADWD actually come out. Vote on the title being changed from "Where is Varys?" to "Where is ADWD?"
It's now fast-approaching the SoS/AFFC 5 year gap between publishing. /sigh I remember how when AFFC came out, I begged my mom to take me to the bookstore right after school the day it came out, and how I spent the next 48 hours or so consumed in it, reading it in class, etc... ah, the nostalgia.
HI GRRM I'D REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF I COULD ENGAGE IN THAT NOSTALGIA AGAIN BEFORE I GRADUATE FROM UNIVERSITY THANKS >=(
(Yeah, yeah, voice of reason, etc. and all that good stuff on "he's trying his best" but this is really getting a little ridiculous. 5 years between every book? At this rate, the HB show will come out first, which'll keep us entertained, I guess...)
Doran actually mentions her:
From the captain of the guards when Doran orders Hotah to arrest the sandsnakes:
"What of Sarella? She is a woman grown almost twenty."
"unless she returns to Dorne theres naught I can do about Sarella save pray she shows more sense than her sisters. Leave her to her... game"
From this we can conclude she is not in Dorne and that she is playong some kind of game. Fits well with the theory.
Separate names with a comma.
