    Time to Brainstorm!!

Since it was suggested to start a Wheel of Time type RPG. And we have approval. Post your ideas here on what area of Randland the RPG will be situated in and what time period. Concurrent to the books or before the series?

Concurrent to the books, we will have to pay more attention to details and timeline, which could prove to be more entertaining, or could be a hassle because of inconsistant facts. Before the series would be alot easier, though we would have to have a plot that provides enough entertainment by itself. With concurrent, if things get dry, we can pull an event out of the story to help makes things more entertaining (ex: encounter Shaido).

As for what the plot will deal with, and where it will begin, I think first we should all develop our own characters. From there we could get a good idea of what event would bring these characters together in Randland.

Also, another point to consider is that if we go before the books, some character's cannot exsist (ex: Asha'man). Not only that, but if we go before the books, an Aes Sedai character will have amazing control over the RPG. In contrast, if we have a concurrent, an Aes Sedai won't present that much influence over the plot and other characters, while a Asha'man would.

So I would say first lets determine what types of characters everyone interested would want to RPG. From their we can work out the plot and initial event.

Yay, ive never done RP'n before but this'll be fun ! I say we should run concurrent with the books, but we wouldnbt be main characters or anything, we may just be adventures pulled by a ta'veren into a strange adventure or something like that.

Anyway we need character types, we could have :

    Aes Sedai
    Asha'man
Warders (id like to play as a warder btw :))
    Aiel
    Seanchen

You can break them down further, different Ajahs, Novices, Accepted, septs and societies, Wise Ones, apprentices, sul'dam, damane etc.

    Also:

    Wolfbrothers
    Soldiers/Blademasters
    Whitecloaks
    Country Ta'veren
    Kin
    Sea Folk

We'll have to pay very close attention to the time-frame as it'll have serious ramifications for certain groups, the Aiel, Kin and most importantly, Asha'man.

I have to be Aiel, they just are too badass to leave alone. I could always make a duel character like an Aiel wolfbrother or Asha'man, I think the Aiel might find the cause of the Asha'man exactly what male Aiel channlers do (to slay the dark one)

And remember that if its set during the times of the books, we can have a much broader range. Becasue the events of ta'veran and the like bring more, like great stuff like wolfbrothers and people who can use tel'aran'rhiod. Everyone expresses surprise at this in the book such as 'relearned' or 'the old come again'.

And it would have to be set at a certain point in the RPG's and with some purpose in mind that doesnt mess up the current WoT timeline. And I wanna be in it so please set it during LoC or before.

I'm thinking starting at EotW or TGH. That way, we can hear rumours about the Dragon Reborn and stuff, but it will be a while before anything major changes.

I think TDR may be better, it opens up a lot more, cause a flase dragon is one thing as most rumours would say, an event like taking callandor would really set off the mark and make a good place to start the RPG because thats when the entire world starts going a little crazy.

Hunters for the Horn, start off in Illian just after swearing the Oath of the Hunter. After all, they do seek out adventure and most are serious buttock prodders.

yeah thats a great Idea, which sticks the RPG around the middle of TGH, which isnt a bad time, but i reallly want to be Aiel, so I could always be off searching for He who comes with the dawn and find you guys or something. Aiel rock so much.

Hey if you want to be asha'man we'll have to set it during LoC or else they wont exist.

Weve gotta have Asha'man, as it makes an interesting contrast to the Aes Sedai, btw how many people are "playing" so far ? Me, Rad, Nienor, Crusader, Unraveller and Meteorain ? Perhaps we need more people first ?

Six people is plenty. Although I wish somebody else female would join.

Met, nobody can be one of the characters from the books. You gotta be creative.

    lol.

You could be a male that can channel, but start off the RPG not being able to. Once we hit LoC / CoS timeline then you could go off for a bit and come back.

So far I'm indecided as to my character. I am thinking maybe a Whitecloak, or maybe a Borderlander.

Incase anybody was blind to my previous posts, I'll make it clear that I shall be Aiel, they are the coolest. Ive picked a clan and sept and a good story to why he is on this side of the dragonwall (unless we set it from TDR and after, but even then its a good story to why he isnt with the toher Aiel). Now all I need to do is aquaint myself with the details of Ji'e'toh and I'll be ready.

I might join if it gets started, I worry a bit about the plot though if we run concurrent with the books.

Maybe I might reconsider my character type....depending on who's who...so as not to go with the majority!
