It is a pity that social media (and real life) destroyed forum's to a degree.
I always hoped forums would make a return. I still post on a few music and motorbike ones every now and then.
I love the sense of community from relatively like minded (i.e nutjobs lol) individuals.

I agree with you. The only reason I keep facebook is to keep in touch with my friends around the world.... most of whom I've made from TFF... semi-counterintuitive but hey, such is life lol.

Keeping in touch is, definitely. But that's not the main function of a forum. I can't imagine how stupid hard it'd be to RP on fb lol. Or do many of the other things we do here.

I am not sold on social media, it seems a bit faceless and fake, compared to sites like this. However it is good to keep in touch with normies!!

I always miss forums. I used to surf them a lot when I was in high school. I was sort of addicted, I think, I was on a bunch of them, both Romanian and international ones. It's very sad that the forum community has come to this. I always hope/dream that the forum-ing concept might come back to life sometime. Facebook is a poor replacement. I don't rp on FB for instance, it just does not make any sense. Fortunately, there are still some forums where I can roleplay or else I roleplay via email. But I still wish forums would get back to what they once were. The bond, the community, and the entire forum experience... I miss those. I'm much more socially active in RL than I was a few years ago, I guess (used to be semi-antisocial) but forums have been a really important part of my life and I'm just a bad loser. I don't wanna let it go:oops:.

I’ve been trying to promote the forum on Facebook through fantasy groups. I feel we really need new members as well as old members, if not more so. We need some fresh blood!

Honestly, in my experience moderating other forums, running Guilds/clans and social events, it's all a snowball effect. Whilst it can be a pain in the butt to get rolling, people tend to jump on the bandwagon. As long as just two or three people can keep a fluent, interesting conversation going, more will come. Event nights are always fun, too. I know a bunch of people (I'm not suggesting it, just using it as an example) that get together on Skype, Discord, Teamspeak and have movie nights. A few people from an old guild of mine also arranged a karaoke night, though a lot of people were far too shy to join in that. A lot of people also commented that they enjoyed being a part of a well structured system, where they weren't just another number, another cog in the wheel, but were seen and treated as an actual person. Being firm but fair was always a good thing, too.

    All in all:
    • Lead by example.
    • Show your peons that you appreciate their good behaviour and wont tolerate anything but that.
    • Potential events that break the standard routine.
