especially the way they move forward slowly and reluctantly at first and then into an all-out charge

and the beacons were beautiful, awesome scoring

    I liked:
    ~ Lighting the beacons
    ~ The Rohirrim riding thing
~ Legolas. *grin* That is, anything with Legolas. And him killing that thingy...
    ~ Elrond giving Aragorn Anduril
    ~ Eagles fighting the Nazgul
    ~ Pippin singing

And I thought Gandalf beating Denethor up was hilarious!

i think that the music adds one of the most important effects to a film. Depending on what a film's score is like it can make or break a movie. Howard Shore does an incredible job of doing music right. I don't think that anyone else could have done the score. He went in so deep, the learics to the songs, the style of music for each culture. It was amazing, and no matter how many times i see the boromir death scene, i get teary eyed. Sean Bean's performance was perfect, but the music helped guide the performance in the right direction.

I LOVED the entire movie... there was not a scene that I didnt like. Top scenes though would have to be:
    everyone bowing to the hobbits
    rohirrim
    aragorn and arwen
    sam and frodos journey
    recieveing Anduril
    Faramir charging into battle
    Frodo and gandalf leaving
FAVOURITE:At the blackgate when they are giving Frodo and sam a chance. He gives everyone the speech... and then he pulls out Anduril, turns to his troops and says... "For Frodo..." and charges into battle.... merry and pipin following. Best scene...

Gandalf first seeing Minas Tirith from over the hill... then the music soars as he bursts through the city gates, the camera following him from various angles as he rides up the seven levels of the city, and finally, finishing triumphantly with a view of the citadel in a shaft of sunlight, high above the Pelennor.

I'd read the books sure enough... but it wasn't until that scene that I truly realized how breathtaking the White City was. It's my favorite location in the entire trilogy.

I also loved the entire movie but my top 3 is:

    1. My favorite scene was when the mumakil appeared on the pelennor battlefield, the sound of the horn and the "singing" of the warriors on the mumakil.

    2. The Paths of the Dead.

    3. The following of Gandalf in Minas Tirith.

i agree with elladan. Minas Tirith is also my favorite location also, along side Rivendel, and the Shire. And my fav. theme from any of the movies is indeed the gondorian theme. I have the soundtrack to the movie, and no matter how loud i have the theme, it just isnt loud enough for me. I love the theme that much. And i get goosebumps to the max. But after all, i am a Gondorian, lol

The speech given to the Rohirrim by Theoden just before they charged was great! (gave me chills). Aragorn's speech before the black gates was excellent too! Gandalf and Pippin's arrival in Minas Tirith was breathtaking! The lighting of the torches was cool. And the launching of all the rock from the catapolts from Minas Tirith was smashing.....quite literally! The whole movie had me going though!

I loved the scene when faramir and his knights are abou to go on the mission to osgiliath. as you say gondorian ranger, the music could make or break the movie. LOTR didnt break. If the gondorian theme is that flutish thing in thet scene i LOVE it.

the gondorian theme is the music when Gandalf and Pip go to minas tirith, and the music when the torches are being lit. And when i said that the movie could make or break the movie, i was talking about movies in general, not LOTR, why would i even say anything remotely bad about the music or the movie in general? But its ok, you just missunderstood, its my fault for not making myself more clear.

I got to agree with some people about when the Rohirrim charged -MIND BLOWING!!!
my other favourite bit is when Aragorn is crowned king and says to the hobbits- "My friends , you bow to no one.
