I understand that, I just mean when someone talks about the house, or questions its existence, the person who built and loved the house, knows it exists and shouldn't care what others think because its his house and why should other peoples opinions of the house bother him, if in his eyes its perfect.

Because they don't like the fact that it's being questioned. It's not that they don't believe it's true, but rather that they believe it is so true, it's impossible that anyone should question it. This makes them a bit defensive, as you put it. Though your point is true, that they should not care about it, these are humans we are talking about. We're naturally argumentative.

All true, consider me owned. But then again, there being different versions of the Bible just reinforces my original point.

woops. for some reason i skipped over Christian and didnt know it was there... but thats what i am. even though i selected 'other'. but, if you narrow down my religion even MORE. then i am a mormon. (and NO i do NOT have more than one mother. that practice was stopped over 200 years ago...)

No, it wasn't. Maybe the major branches of Mormonism stopped it, but there are lots of groups still out there practicing polygamy, especially in Utah. But for most Mormons, I'm sure you're right that they don't do the multiple wives thing. :)

Sorry, I go by what people claim themselves as, not what others label them. If they say they're Mormon, they're Mormons to me. If you've got a problem with that, I suggest you take it up with the LDS weirdos. :p

I know I'm boring, but I'll stick with the atheist thing :D Though I've been pagan/wiccan for a couple of years, but I discovered that religion isn't really my thing. It's interesting to read about, and be in sacred places, but I can't believe ^^

This thread feels like it needs some love from Karl Marx. Here are two of my favorite quotes on religion, both by him. :)

"Religion is the impotence of the human mind to deal with occurrences it cannot understand."

"Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people."

I started not caring about hell once I considered "what if it is hyped"

Ex. Hell could be a small room with no air conditioning and an annoying guy with a red suit.

That just led me to dumbing down my entire religion to the point where I hardly believe in it. I mean most things were interpreted by the prophets who wrote the bible. So alot of it could be hokey. Sorry God, its just you should have waited till humans understood the world before trying to explain all the other stuff. Of course that is if there is a god because I am agnostic-kinda and I want hard evidence, please.
