As Yehir pointed out so well...please read the first book and decide on your own if the series is for you or not. And as for Sword of Truth being like Harry Potter it is totally different from Harry Potter. Not all of the books are filled with cheerfullness. Each book has it's own bad and good areas as well as boring and not so boring. Pillars of Creation was a bore to me but after reading it twice now it's not soo bad but it still is boring in several parts. :) It's your call guys. I'd just like to say one thing....try to get some enjoyment from the series. And try not to compare it to other books. This book is different from other books out there. Thanks for your time.

So yes or no, Are there wizards who say they're good and wizards who are bad? Cuz I'm not trying to judge but not only do I read books for good writing but, I also read them for their morals. I don't believe that wizards who say they are good are really good. You can't have in between characters. If they practice occult kind of spells and wands kind of magic then there is a good chance I won't read that book.

Another question. Is Richard a wizard and his "friends" wizards too?

I would tell you about Richard but that would be spoiling it. Zedd is a good Wizard while Darken Rahl is an evil wizard. They don't use wands either - that's only in Harry Potter. The first novel has excellent writing in it with a lot of details and character development. Not all of the S.O.T. cast are wizards there are only a select few but if I told you them all then i'd be spoiling the book. Each new book has a rule that you learn and when I do is when I learn a new rule I try my best to apply it in my every day life. Hope that helps you out. :)

Right so I started listening to the audiobook, and this is my take on the characters.

Kahlan: Primarily ok, but whines too much, and is all like weepy and moany, and get's excited over apples and shit, and pisses me off when she goes "I can't tell him...waa waa waa". Other than that, is ok.

Zedd: Lol this guy makes me laugh. Mainly because he sits around watching clouds naked, and abuses his cat. Not to mention the narrator does an awesome accent for him.

Richard: Quite cool, could do better with the whole "I must not get angry" attitude, which is understandable but a bit OTT.

Richard's bro: Lol wtf perv pleb.

Shar: lol wtf was this crazy thing >_<

Other than that, the story seems quite good, and the concepts are sort of different so far, and I am enjoying it.

Oh you so much to learn about Kahlan it isn't funny. She's not weak either but as I stated you've just started to learn about her. Wait until you get further along. You'll see Kahlan isn't whiney and weak..... :)

I was giving an overview of my thoughts so far. But she does like to argue and moan a lot. So far, I think Richard is probably my favourite character followed by Zedd (or maybe it's the other wa round...hmmm)

Right ok..."Cat" is now the formidable warrior that existed. It took out some random Gar, and puts up with Zedd's abuse, and even understands him clearly. Lol it's actually amazing >_<

Omg...Zedd's trick...where the guys all lost their "most important thing to them", was actually amazing. XD

Okay first hello Im new hear, I came to this site because it had a forum about this series. So to answer your question that is hard. Yes there are "evil and good" Wizards but there is so much more to them, the "good" wizards are constantly struggling with being good. It is so much more than just a simple story very complex, I am on the second book right now and I am very addicted. To be honest I have read some amazing authors and am very loyal to them. But, in my opinion when my co-worker handed me the book and tryd to explain it to me I looked at it and was like ??? I didnt quite understand what he ment. I couldnt grasp everything he was telling me. It is hard to explain but, one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read. Like I said I'm addicted. Please give it a chance. I think you will enjoy it. Just my opinion.
