Tibetan Mastiff. Not the tamed ones mind you, but the REAL deal one gets to see in the Tibetan highlands area. Now this is the one breed that won't take any shit from any stranger. In fact gaining its respect will always be a real tall task. But once one gained its trust, you CAN be very bloody damned sure that it will fight tooth and nail NOT for itself, but only for its master. A really fierce breed originally used to protect sheep flocks from predators.

Chihuahua. Nice, small, fashionable and not big enough to be irritating when they decide to climb all over you. Or Greyhounds, from my experience with the one I used to have, they're quiet and happy to just sit around all day being pretty. Both are easily maintained too.

I love Boxers for their personality and overall energy and I like Huskies/Alaskan Malamutes for their appearance. But Boxers are the greatest dogs! :)

Pointers! Although if I was supposed to get a dog for myself (I have one at my parent's place, but well... it's at my parents) I would probably choose a Beagle, because I wouldn't have enough space for a bigger dog.
