    Hi guys,

Well this looks like the best of the forums I have been searching for today... here's hoping it proves useful.

I like to consider myself a bit of a writer. Apart from my day job of writing non-fiction academic stuff... I have spent the past 5 years writing a fantasy novel(s) as well. I have started publishing it online but would like to get it reviewed so as to build word of mouth. I am not going to post the link here as I have no intention of spamming you.

HOWEVER... do you know who/where/how I might go about getting my work reviewed? Online fiction reviewers interested in fantasy are difficult to find.

The goal is to get a fanbase online and move into print. I have found that fiction publishers are far more, well, judgmental than academic editors, which I find hard to understand (especially considering the requirement for peer review in the academic field).

    So... help me out :)

I'm not too sure about online reviewing services (although the site above sounds about right), but welcome to the forum, and I hope you enjoy your stay.:)

at times i believe some people do not read the hellos of our dear newcomers so as to respond with genuine words of welcome apropos the introduction. rather, it would seem some automatically output a generic phrase oblivious the context as would a bot no doubt. amusing.
    ---

hello friend. forgive me my words as they too distract. i do not know of any such sites. however, why not build a website/blog to promote your work as you build a loyal readership with whom you can communicate intimately. such devote fans are worth 100 times the average fan, because they themselves will promote you.

also i am curious to read a sample of your work. if you are not shy about it i would appreciate a pm?

IF you post up samples in some forums you can get crits on them - though you have to remembre that in most cases its only about 1000 words or so long that you can post (not often stated, but most people won't read through vrey very long blocks of text - especially for a newer member of a site).
Through such sites one can also end up with "fans" who would be willing to read more and crit.

And now welcome to the site - if you have any food please donate it to the site wolves:)
