In The Path of Daggers, A Time For Iron...

When Rand was about to attack the Seanchan in that particular final conflict, Weiramon and Gedwyn were having a conversation. Weiramon was ranting. Weiramon's tirade goes a little something like this...

stating "I don't care who you are," as he was saying to the black coated man in a low, hard voice, spittle flying, "I won't take more risk without a command direct from the lips of-"

They became aware of Bertome and became very angry. Deathly angry. Who were they talking about? Is Weiramon a Darkfriend? We know that Gedwyn is, after the events in Winter's Heart.

    What do you think ?

    There are basically two options:

    1. He's a Darkfriend. Gedwyn was trying to get him to help assassinate Rand. Gedwyn reminded Weiramon he stood higher in the councils of the Darkfriends. Weiramon was about to say, "from the lips of Taim/Moridin/one of the Chosen," depending on who he's serving. His bungling is all a sham, he's doing it on purpose to hold Rand back and prevent him reaching his goals. A lot of people favour this one solely because there's a High Lord at the Df social in TGH and we don't know who he is yet.

    2. He's a fool. As he's behaved all along. Gedwyn was manipulating him, pretending to carry messages from Rand to dupe him into doing something REALLY dumb. Not yet quite sure what though. Weiramon though he was being really cool, carrying out a secret plan for Rand but got cold feet. Gedwyn reminded him he was an Asha'man, Rand's trusted upper servants. Weiramon was about to say, "from the lips of the Lord Dragon."

Hmm, i kinda gotta go with the first one, he's always undermining Rand's orders and making stupid "mistakes" that screw up Rand's plans. And, yes, there was a High Lord Of Tear at the Darkfriend Social, it would make a lot of sense.

If he was about the say the Lord Dragon, why did he stop when Bertome walked in, and why would he become angry ? If Bertome is on the same side, why would he be afraid to say "the Lord Dragon ?" But if he is a darkfriend, then he would be very afraid to mention the Forsaken in front of Rand's allies.

If Gedwyn was duping him into believing that he was performing a top secret service for Rand he'd be damn sure to stress the 'absolute secrecy' aspect. He'd probably have told him he was to root out Darkfriends or traitors, trust no one but me and the Lord Dragon. Tell absolutely no one, no the Lord Dragon can't give you the orders himself, he doesn't want anyone to suspect that you're performing this incredibly important, vital in fact, tip top secret service.

It'd be logical for him to shut up in front of anyone.

    Hmm, good points. Still, that seems like a big IF, and with not much evidence besides pure speculation. But going on what evidence we do have;

1.A High Lord of Tear at the DF Social
2.The fact the Gedwyn is a Darkfriend

Im gonna believe that Weiramon is indeed a darkfriend. Does anyone else have an opinion ?

Lol, I'm not trying to say it's the right answer, just trying to say that those are the two theories and they're equally possible. I'm undecided myself.

There were quite a few High Lords, it could have been any of them. Including Weiramon.

Yeah, but not many of the High Lords are really close to Rand, nor "main"-ish characters, it wouldn't really be a big deal if someone we hadnt met declared he was a Darkfriend, however, if Weiramon, as someone close to the Dragon revealed himself as a Darkfriend, it would be a big(ger) issue.

But by that reasoning Aram *must* be the Tinker we see and the Sea Fold guy *must* be Nesta's(?) Master of the Blades.

Naah, too obvious. RJ's more devious than that. Unless it's a double bluff. Or triple bluff. Or ...

Well, with two books left to go, who else could it be ? Is some random Tinker just gonna pop in and and try to "whack" Rand ?

Could be someone we'll never meet. Or someone we met briefly. Or one of the new Dreadlords.

Thats very possible. Im more inclined to agree with that, but if we find out who that Tinker Darkfriend is, im betting its Aram.
