It's a remarkably dull holiday...
I'm not complaining. It's nice to see the momentum building. For a while there I thought this rpg would die on its arse...
I'm cutting my holiday short. I'm bored out of my skull. I'd rather be at work. Expect a plethora of posts in future. If no-one else posts in the meantime I'll just stick my next one onto the last.
And Rob, any chance of an anthem to Miss Welkin at dusk?
Bugger. Missed that reference. Must be getting old.
What's happened to The Endless dark and Fear His Name? Are they still in it?
They've gone AWOL. If they don't return in the next few weeks their characters are fair game.
It would be fairly easy to incorporate Fear His Name's character into my own story. If he doesn't show up and you want Hedron to continue in some form just give me a shout. I could easily have him meet up with the Scavengers. It would be nice if people gave some warning that they were about to disappear though, rather than leaving things in limbo.
He's got a month to show up. After that you can do what you like with Hedron. If FHN turns up after that he'll either have to come up with a new character or carry on where you left off with Hedron. Anyway, I'm going offline for a bit. I'm still coughing my lungs up, so I plan on getting some whiskey, getting wasted, and falling into a coma until Monday. Be good, and if you can't be good, don't get caught.
One more question, aimed at Rob this time. In your second post you talk about the twin moons of Nu-Earth. Are you on a different planet to me? I don't want to post something which might possibly mention your characters or their actions if they're a billion miles away in a different part of the galaxy. I presume you meant Nu-Corinth, as it's contextually in keeping with everything else you've written, but as I'm a newbie to this rpg I don't want to take anything for granted. Any clarification would be helpful. I'm probably just being dim, as usual. Too much rum has a habit of addling the brain.
I imagine it's simply a typo on Rob's part. A lot of planets have been mentioned so far, and it's easy to lose track. I'll let the man speak for himself, though.
What puzzles me is why the OOC has had 2,015 views while the actual interesting stuff, the rpg, has only had 544 views. What's with that?
Shorter paragraphs? I'm a Luddite, so I don't understand how the viewing thing works. Given my rather jaded view of humanity, however, I suspect my first response is the correct one. People don't like having to read chunks of prose. It may force them to engage their brains. Cynical, moi? Perish the thought!
I won't disagree. Then again, I've just consumed half a bottle of Scotch which just adds to my already considerable disdain of my fellow human beings (members of the WDD rpg excluded, of course). I have a feeling you're right though, Nom. Short sentences, easy reading. Sums up society. Just as well I'm not in a position to wield any power. I'd wade knee-high through fields of blood to clean up this planet. Then again, most people would consider me an extremist or misanthrope. Maybe they're right to do so. Either way, I'm more than happy to join you in your jaded view of our species. Seems the only sensible option considering the evidence.
Misanthropy has a bad rep. From my experience, the masses are asses. Maybe it's just my pagan Celtic blood harking back to purer days, but I have little sympathy for the drones that infest modern society, nor the weak-kneed middle-eastern philosophies which replaced the Gods of my ancestors. This is possibly a discussion for another place, however. I wouldn't wish to frighten any others who may wish to join our enterprise.
Yet you're still a socialist?
I have compassion for my fellow Man. Just not the stupid ones.
What if the stupid ones make up the majority. Do you hate them all?
Happily. I alone, mate. I alone. That's part of the pagan creed. Rely on yourself. I seek no favours from society, nor expect any. Plough your own furrow and be damned with everyone else. It's the only way.
Doesn't that conflict with your socialist principles?
My pagan blood overrides any 'ism'. I'm willing to give people the benefit of the doubt, that's only fair. If they prove themselves false, I feel no need to regard them as anything other than a drone. Contradictory, perhaps, but that's the prerogative of a free-thinker. I don't need to be consistent, just true to myself.
I'm not sure I can get to grips with your philosophy. Then again, I am half-pissed.
Separate names with a comma.
