The place to pose questions and discuss ideas...
Just a reminder that all posts should be a minimum of thirty lines.
And if anyone wants to play as a marine, please note Power Armour is not an option. Think of the marines along the lines of those depicted in Starship Troopers or Aliens. No heavy armour is allowed.
It would also be helpful if you all used Size 2 font, as some of us old geezers have trouble reading tiny writing.
The Endless Dark wishes to know the nature of the evil which has engulfed Nu Corinth. Is it of a biological or supernatural nature? The Endless Dark does not wish to make a post which carries the story off in the wrong direction, though it will also eat the soul of anyone who dares complain...
The threat has a supernatural dimension - I really don't want this to be a marines vs. aliens type of thing. Having said that, players have leeway to be inventive, as I don't want to tread on people's creativity. As long as posts don't run off into the realms of absurdity I'm happy to incorporate anything into the story.
I just posted in the old suggestion thread with a question on what level of adult themes are allowed to be involved in here. You know! the nudge nudge wink wink factor. And Language of course.
You're welcome to post anything that doesn't get the Mods upset!
[edit: the more mature in theme and tone the better, as far as I'm concerned. I want to avoid this turning into a Star Wars kiddie-friendly Space Opera if at all possible]
Good to hear! Saccharine sweet is not my thing to be honest.
I think we need a "slang" vocab for this rpg, as I have a feeling I may well need a substitute for a certain 4 letter word (or several).
The only two which spring immediately to mind are 'Frell!' from Farscape, and 'Drokk!', as used by Judge Dredd. The problem with not using the Anglo-Saxon ones is that dialogue can sometimes look unintentionally comical. If you want to use old-fashioned profanities, just insert an asterisk in the appropriate place or perhaps a k in place of a c.
Nice posts btw, TED. You've pretty much captured the gothic horror tone I had in mind.:draught:
The Endless Dark is gratified. The last post was three lines under the limit, but sometimes a scene comes to a natural end and there is little point padding it out for the sake of it. Other posts shall be longer.
This looks awesome, where do I sign up?
All the information you need can be found in the first post here:
The only rule I mean to enforce quite harshly is the 30 line minimum per post (in Size 2 font). I was prepared to let The Endless Dark's second post go because he was finishing off a scene he had already started and, as he pointed out, there was no point padding it once it had reached a natural conclusion. However, from now on every post should be at least that length. If you feel capable of following this rule, then you're more than welcome to join the rpg.
I'll try and get a post up in the next few days. For God's sake, though, keep the kiddies out of it. It looks like a pretty cool rpg so far, and I'd hate to see it descend into some trite hobbit-friendly, cliche-ridden nonsense before I even make my first post. Keep it mean and bloody, the way it should be!
I'm prepared to give anyone a chance, JR. However, if they're not up to standard they'll be booted out and I'll ask Nienor to delete their posts. As you say, this is a mean and bloody rpg, and it will no doubt get a lot more disturbing as it continues (largely thanks to Rob and The Endless Dark, I suspect).
I'm working on my first post now. It should be finished by the weekend, hopefully.
[edit: actually, I've just finished it, so I'll tidy it up a bit and post it tonight.]
Wow! That whole Torag 1 thing was just a throwaway line, but you've really fleshed it out, TFS. Nice work! You've also added a whole new layer to the actions of the Empire that I hadn't even considered. Great posts, people, of a very high standard. This is turning out a lot better than I expected. Keep it up!:draught:
I'll work on my next post over the weekend: should have it up middle of next week or thereabouts.
The Endless Dark shall endeavour to post another chapter in the story within the next seven days, barring accident or alcohol poisoning...
I'm still in this. I'll get to work over the weekend, and post something in a few days. I just need to think about my plotting a bit more.
I haven't forgotten about posting. I'm still thinking up ideas. When I come up with something good I'll post it.
