Rowling has confirmed the title of the next book but there's no schedule as of yet for it's release. The title is "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince". http://money.cnn.com/2004/06/29/news/newsmakers/harrypotter/index.htm?cnn=yes

did you go to the JK Rowling site?

There is a whole puzzle, and when you figure it out, the title is revealed. It's actually alot of fun.

    go to www.jkrowling.com

    click on the hair scrunchie.

You will be taken to a wall. Click the bricks in order, turn on the fan, and the title is revealed

I read about it this morning. I'm so excited! Yay!! :banana:Hopefully this is a sign the book will be coming soon, not in 3 years. Someone on another board I'm always on mentioned this:

"I know that between the 4th and 5th books she had the lawsuit, the birth of David, and many other things to keep her occupied. She seems to be moving much faster with this book so I'm hoping (praying!) for a release next summer. Last time she was coaxed into giving away the title by a cute boy and said she'd never let it slip early like that again. So this time, it came out on her own time - does that mean the book itself isn't too far away? I sure hope so!!"

    I'm hoping for spring/summer 2005.

According to JK, the Half Blood Prince isn't Harry or Voldermort...

    Any theories?

    Seamus Finnigin?

But both of his parents were Aurors, a witch and wizard, he is a pureblood.

A new character? Or maybe Dumbledore? Don't forget Draco Malfoy. How about Dudley? I'm drifting away from possible answers...

Hey, what about Hagrid? He is is halfblood for sure, though not entirely what the most of you are thinking about. Maybe he can become a prince who unites the Giants and help Dumbledore out, the first steps have already been taken in book 5

Then there is Ron, who isn't blood to the purest level, either. It would be a good plot if he joins the darkside and becomes He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's lacky or something. Think about the plot possibilities!

Then there are Dean Thomas, a Gryffindor, in the same year as HP, though JK stated he isn't as important as Neville. And Remus Lupin, who is claimed to be of half blood descent also. Furthermore, we still don't know what's up with Snape....

In the end, the best chances are the new Defence teacher is the HBP; and it just could be Snape this year, if his character is played out...

good job Turambar! I think Hagrid is the half blood prince.

Hagrid's father (pure blood) married Hagrid's mother (a giant!!).

That would make him half blood. Plus, JK Rowling seems to have something hidden with Hagrid
Well, I know who I'm betting on....

Possibly, but what does that have to do with voldie? He could never get to hagrid and turn him to the bad side...

No isengard111 I think Dumbledore is too powerful. Draco Malfoy is pure blood remember when hagrid is explaining the term mud-blood to harry in book 2 the malfoys are pure. Maybe Dudley because his aunt is a witch but noone on his dads' side is

My theory is that the half blood prince has something to do with Griffindor's heir, that the heir is the HBP. She stated in one interview that big parts of book 6 were orginally in book 2 but was removed because she thought it would be better off in 6 (something to that effect).

And the sentence behind the door of the description of a new character has a definite lionish feel to it. Tawny hair and eyes, ect.

Hagrid could be the HPB too, I feel like there is something big comming for him as well.
