    Heyo!
Tried a new technique yesterday wherein you work out details with a grey-scale and then doodle about with layer options and stuff. I gotta say it was great to try something new, it really brings things to a perspective.
Here's the guy. Have a good one!

Excellent work PerFolmer!.. and I could have told you about the joys of working from a pencil sketch and using it as both the bottom layer and as a multiply layer on top, and by various means adding color layers to give the artwork a 'painterly' effect.

    The grayscale layer...

... and after several hours of color work and exploring layering options in Photoshop...

Thank goodness for photoshop as I've never been all that great at painting, and it gives me the option to turn my drawings into paintings!

Thanks Sparrow! Your piece is cool. You really managed to nail the colors well! I haven't played about with layer options that much before but I realize that one can actually go from monochrome to color pretty well if done right. At least you've proved that point! I also like the black and white but I'm not sure I have a favorite.

I think sometimes art is like photography, there seems to be an emotional appeal to black & white photography, that are lost with vivid colors.

With b&w photographs there are no distractions, just the subject, and the viewer. I even usually like 'tinted' photographs better than full color. That's one thing I wish I was better at, photography. I took a class in high school and turned my mom's linen closet into a darkroom, but I was never much good at it.
