So I saw Twilight today, along with my daughter's middle school book club. Having never read the books, I'd say it was OK. Daughter and friends said it was pretty true to the book. What say you? Should I bother reading the sequels or just wait until they all come out? Not quite my genre, but if I can enjoy King, I can do this.

I liked the books, big fun and all.
The movie I'm not even going to watch, don't want to ruin my book expiriance.

The only way the movie would be true to the books is if they made it CG, because the whole point of Edward is that he's too good to be true. And that Cedric kid dosen't even come close.
But the books ware awsome, only books I know with a really happy ending...for now that is, the story will keep going with...whatever weird and cruel name she gave to the child.

well, breaking dawn was a lil bit different than the others...you know, we were waiting for the fight-but nothing happened. and the whole thing with the child....but i liked it, yeah. too bad it's the end.
that means...i hope there wont be the 4th book (edwards perspective).

Aw, gee. I thought that Cedric kid was pretty cute. My Cougar claws came out. I liked the way he sparkled. I thought the action could have been better choreographed. I would have liked to see the bad vampire's head really ripped off, that would have been cool. But then the 9 year-olds would've been upset and believe me, there were YOUNG girls there. I was surprised as it didn't even occur to me to bring MY 9 year-old. I think I'll pass on the books, there are so many out there I need to read and since I'm so frickin' old, I can't stay awake past one measly chapter...

Second that, Arwen. I enjoyed the books AND the movie. I thought it was very well done.

I really like the books, especially part two and not so much part four, but I was a bit disappointed in the movie.

I had two words for it- "Overly Dramatic"
My friend's two words were- "Low budget"

The directing I just thought was horrible and the writing down right dismal, which is inexcusable because there is a book to just copy the lines from.

I totally agree. He is cute but the Edward in my mind was perfect. Now Robert invades my mind every time I read the book and I cant think of the original Edward I had imagined and that sucks :(

I also agree! I heard they had to make a few more scenes during Summer with a diferent director cause the action scenes were worse before. I just hope since the first movie was such a success they spend more money to the next one.

Wow I really thought that guys would have never enjoyed a book like that..at least the first one..

Being a writer, all that matters to me is a good storyline.

I saw it before I read the book... 2 times. I bought the book (at 40% off, no less) and then once I finished it I went to see the movie again. I was successful in creating a new Bella during my reading, but Edward remained Rob for me.

I too hate having an idea of a character in my mind, then having a movie or TV reproduction ruin it for me. This happened the worst for me with Lonesome Dove and Gus McRae- completely forgot how I imagined him and couldn't and can't get it back to this day.

But back to Twilight, the movie, I thoroughly enjoyed it- I liked the amazing score, the setting, the lighting, the way the characters looked, the feel of the movie. Some parts were way overdone.

I will say that the hospital scene with Bella freaking out after Edward telling her that she should go to Florida with her mother made me laugh and scoff at the same time. It was ridiculous!

I love the books. I love the movie.

I've seen it twice now, and contemplating a third before it leaves theatres. Every smoldering gaze from Edward sets my little heart aflutter. But I'm obviously obsessed, so I'm not sure my opinion counts.

Renzo - YOU read Twilight? Let's play Aussie vampire! I'll be Bella. ;)

Same here. I was also really repulsed by Edward's line: "You better hold on tight, spidermonkey!"

Also, Rosalie & Mike aren't hot enough. And Eric is definately not a gay Asian (no offense to gay Asians)!

    Still love it though.

Books weren't bad although last one with multiple vampires with varying degrees of 'X-Men-like' powers was starting to deteriorate into naff-ness.

Haven't seen the movie but judging by comments perhaps I should check it out :)

Yay! I love Taylor. He has that great "Jacob smile" that Stephanie writes about so often.
