So Rachel/App gave me Twilight as a gift, lol. I've been reading it, and here are my impressions so far (at the beginning of Chapter 14, so don't post spoilers until I'm done! ;))

These are my impressions on the book so far. Most fans are prolly gon' hate me for it, but oh well.

    1) Edward is sexy.
    2) This is super-highschooly.
    3) Edward is REALLY sexy.
    4) The writing is laughable. As in, it's terrible. She uses adjectives to convey her point every third of a phrase, and I couldn't stop giggling last night while I was reading some passages out loud to Senekha/KTQT. Something about muscular curvatures.
    5) Edward's still sexy. :(

Will post more when I finish!

You are too funny! And you are right most of the fans are going to crucify you!

I finally read Twilight to seeing what the fuss was about and because I have a weird affinity for vampires! I will say I did like it but I too found the writing a bit so so. She has a thing for the word "chagrin" which bugged me only because she used quite often and it was just annoying to me for some reason?! But over all I did enjoy the book and of course I will have to finish the series, but I've decided to put it off until after I watch the movie finally. No I haven't seen it yet, I never go to movies any more got little dragons to keep in line! :D :p

One part I whole heartly say I agree with you is that...heck yeah Edward is sexy! Wahoo, for pretty boy vampires! Ok, the old lady will now compose herself! :devilspin

    :D Twilight sceptics FTW!!!

And yes, Edward is very sexy. Also has the personality of a cardboard cut-out but when you're that sexy, who cares?

    OMG it's Ilaelin! <3

So I finished Twilight last night. All I can say is "lol." The whole "I am desperately in love at 17 after three whole months of knowing him" kinda' made me giggle just a li'l bit. Problems I had with the book (I'm ignoring the "young adult" aspect of it):

    1) Retardedly unrealistic one-dimensional characters
    2) It's written like a very, very bad fanfiction
    3) Bella's inability to do anything without Edward is absolute "lol"
    4) Utter predictability of plot
    5) Lack of anything even resembling emotion other than high school infatuation
    6) Terribad.

    Things I liked about it:
    Edward.

With all that loling clearly it was an enjoyable read :)

I've read the whole series and can honestly say that not much has 'stuck'. Meyer's other book 'The Host' was better. Apparently Meyer was the biggest selling author of 2008 so she's happy.

psssh sexy isn't all that matters :p

Yeah, I read the first book. I enjoyed it for what it was. I did not go in expecting a well written anything, but it was a light read with a new twist to the old.

Laughter makes any book enjoyable ;) That being said, I was unable to watch the movie.

I feel like I need to read it over again. I'm starting to wonder if somehow I missed the bad writing. :p

Maybe I enjoyed it so much I just didn't notice the writing. It's entirely possible. I enjoyed The Host more too...it seemed more mature. Less high school :D

You gonna read the next one? :p

Haha, probably. I enjoyed Edward enough for that ;)

But if you like, I can find one of the more outrageous parts and type them up for you :D KT and I couldn't stop laughing, it's exactly how we'd imagine a teenage pornographic script to be written or somethin'.

I'm trying to struggle through The Host, but so far I'm absolutely hating it. It is so dry and boring, I just cannot get into it!

Are you going to watch the movie, Em? My brother bought it for me for my birthday and I made the family watch it, to their dismay. If you didn't like the book you probably won't like the movie. Robert Pattinson is 100% sexy, however...except when he's in the car after saving Bella and biting James' face off - can anyone say crazy eyes?

Stephanie Meyer also writes "chuckled" a lot, which Adrienne pointed out to me. A lot.

I think that's how I felt, too. I actually found it sort of relaxing in a sense. Straightforward writing that you don't have to focus on so much. I mean, c'mon - SM isn't the next Tolkien or anything. But I didn't think it was any worse than other young adult books (i.e. Harry Potter).

Also, I liked the fact that SM won't let Edward/Bella have a real love scene. Just builds up the sexual tension. And I thought the kissing scene at the car just before the baseball scene was HOT, so I don't know why you're complaining, Em. ;)

I read the first half of Twilight, got bored, and stopped.

    ...

*ducks rotten vegetables from outraged fangirls*

I get that the books are fun, though. I don't think anyone reads them for the brilliant writing or the superb character development, it's read because it's entertaining, and that's just as good a reason as any for getting hooked on a series.

I couldn't get past the writing, though. The adjectives thing especially. I mean, if she'd cut out half the adjectives in the book it would've been at least a hundred pages shorter, and we wouldn't have had to know exactly what Edward was wearing at all times.

Never saw the movie, though.... is it worth a watch?

Lol knowing what Edward was wearing is very important! would have been better if she had him wearing less clothes!
