Yeah that's what I was going from a walkthru I found. Only problem is, you don't end up in a room. From the map point, if you take a right at every junction, you go around in circles!

Heheh I tried almost every variation. It does specify to go North, then take rights at every junction. Doing that only takes you in circles though which is really frustration. I tried going north past the first junction, and taken each right thereafter. Unfortunately, that takes you back to the West wing which is where the switch is. Grrr

Ok, I think it all went wrong because I did the sequence backward. The 'lever' that I couldn't find was the one had already pulled even before I let the water in. Maybe because I didn't let the chain go and the water in first, the bridge never came down. In that case, there'd be nothing I could do to get the brothers anyhow.
Problem solved though. I stayed up all night last night starting over again. Only this time, I've given it a fair go. I haven't even come close to the tomb yet and I've got Squall on level 25. Go me!!
Again, thanks for helping me so much Cheesy. I'll let you know when I get to it if my small brain can work it out :p

and yes, you are right. I played that part today again and I did it that way, with no problem
You're all set to go now :D

You can get some good upgrades before the tomb to help too...Thundaga and the Punishment gunblade for squall to name a few

Punishment gunblade? Damn, I missed that. I didn't fight too much in the tomb. I have a pretty good stock so far anyhow. I'm disappointed at how easy the Brothers were to defeat. Took a few minutes and that's it :(
They suck too. I gave them a little training on the way back to Garden, but they're really crap!

    yes they are...its pathatic actually

The best is yet to come with Brothers. They themselves suck, but their HP abilities help, especially the HP 20/40/80%
ill get the punishment stuff...hold on

For the Punishment, you need 1 Chef's knife, one Star Fragment, 1 Turtle Shell, and 8 Screws

Chef's Kinfe- Refine a Tonberry Card
Star Fragment- Refine 3 Iron Giant Cards
Turtle Shell- I think you can get it in the Tomb by fighting the Armadodos, but you can get it via card modding too, because I had it before the tomb. I can't remember exactly what card it was though
Screw: Just touch a Gezzard and you get like 14 :D

Hrmm, can you explain the refining process for me? I don't get it. Also, there's a way to find hidden draw points etc with one of the gf's, but I'm not sure how to use them outside of battle...

ok...this is sort of hard to explain

You see where the GF command is in the Main Menu? Go there, and select a GF. It doesnt matter which one.
Once you do, there will be a picture of the GF with all of his/her stats. Press X, and a list of abilities will be shown. Those are the abilities that the GF can learn. More will become avaliable when some more are learned.

You can select which ability you want the GF to learn by...selecting it :D The AP that you get after battle is what makes the GF learn the ability.
That's how you get the "Move-Find" ability (from Siren). Learn that, and set it as one of your support ability (under where the Attack, Draw, GF, and Magic commands are).
You can't actually use them in battle, but if you were to have, say HP 80% equipped, your HP would increase by 80%.
For Move-Find, just put it as a support ability, and walk around. Eventually, you'll come across a draw point and a save point that you wouldnt ordinarily be able to see.

Card Modding is easy...just learn the card mod ability from Quez...Quezaqu...that lightning bird :D. Then go to abilities, and select card mod. Then just go by the cards :D

    Hope I got it all...

Yeah I've got the learning thing down pat. I've been at the beach fighting those fish for hours (they give 3AP each and you always fight two or more). Quez kicks but. My GF's are all on VERY high level. Quez is currently doing about 4000 damage to those weak against Lightning.
It's the refine bit that gets me. I have, as I said, Quez who has learnt all his abilities. Shive is almost done learning all of hers. Ifrit isn't far behind and neither is Siren or Diablo (who also sucks).
But what do I do to refine things? And is there a certain list you can get that tells you which items to refine? Also, I thought I had to get the iron bar from the Brothers. When I had Quistis try to Mug them, they both had nothing :(

gah...sorry for insulting your intelligence about that stupid tutorial

Once you have the abilities learned, go under ability in the main menu. Select one. After that, it's easy. Everything that is refined is shown on that top bar.

    ok...hope I got it this time :D

As for the Iron bar, you don't have to get it.

...Actually I don't even remember there being one. The closest thing I remember is the steel pipe, but you can get them in a lot of places

Lol, iron bar, steel pipe same thing really :p

Is there a possibility that the Orb you can get does the same thing as the Bar?
So pretty much you just need to set the Refine ability to the char? And what happens then? It refines whatever automatically? Sorry, but the refine stuff confuses me. I'm so use to playing ff9!
