I'm going to get a tatoo of a scar, such as one that a morgul blade might leave, on my chest near my left sholder(nnhhh, that looks wrong for some reason oh well). I'm probably just going to copy movie Frodo's.

LOL. Not likely I'd remember one single player joining our game. But I'll keep an eye out for you.

;-) but let's stay on topic.

you can get a white tattoo of the tree of gondor. they even have some that show up only under a black light that might be pretty sweet. heres an idea, get a tattoo of sting with just regular blank ink, but have them fill it in with the black light ink so it would glow blue in the dark, that would be sweet.

Well you've got to think about what you like about Tolkien. Do you have a particular aspect of his work that you just love above all else? Then perhaps consider centering it around that. I.E., The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, etc.

Once you've narrowed it to a work, narrow it to a piece of the work. I.E., the ring, a character, a locale, a language, a sword, etc.

Personally, I'm just an absolute Tolkien nut in general, so I ultimately decided on Tolkien's styilized initials signature, which you can see in my Avatar. I printed out my AV, took it to the tattoo shop, and the rest is history. This makes for a general Tolkien statement...a love for Tolkien works as a whole, and a respect for the man himself, Professor Tolkien.

Well, I must say, that answered my question and then some. Thank you much! I will definitely take your suggestions into consideration when I decide to get my own Tolkien Related Tattoo!
Again, thank you and great pick for a design.

Make sure that if you get any writing done in the tengwar that you actually know what it says. That picture posted above actually translates to just a bunch of random letters- "~fvfnvsw" is what it actually says. That person obviously just downloaded a tengwar program and thought that the characters corresponded to a regular keyboard, which they do not. Here is how that tattoo should actually look, when done correctly. The first version is where the vowels are shown as small marks above the following letters, the second is where the vowels have their own characters. Either is correct.

If that was adressed towards me, my sincerest thanks to you sir. My friend and I know someone who has the system of writing Tengwar, and not by just using the font.
But hay, thanks again and I will definitely take this into consideration.

Even though I wouldn't get a tattoo, I would have to go with my initials in runic (the runic from The Hobbit).

Cool idea! I like it! Have you done any research into how to do it? There's lots and lots of resources on the 'net about how to to translate words/text into the languages of Tolkien.

I think there's not so much out there on the runes as there is on the Tengwar scripts, but you should be able to find something along with a font pack to work with.

Look up Dan Smith in relation to Tolkien languages. I'd post the link here myself, but as he also sells merchandise including, but not limited to swords, it wouldn't be prudent considering the BBB ties to this site.

By the way...you're from Michigan? Rock on! Where abouts?

Yeah I think I would like a runic, just one I think "M" or maybe my middle name "Sigrún" means Victory Rune and Sigrún was one of the Valkyries (oops sorry off topic)

As both a fan of all things Tolkien and also a huge Douglas Adams fan I have had the number 42 written in Tengwar on my upper bicep (see attachment for example)
