What would you bring with you if you were permitted to time travel to some point in the middle ages for a weekend?

I submit that your experience would be similar to visiting a third-world country. Typhus, cholera, diptheria, smallpox and plague were common diseases back then, and that among people who had developed some resistance to it. So I'd definitely include some protection:
    • Some means of antiseptically washing hands
    • Toilet paper
    • Bug repellent with DEET
    • Water purification tablets
    • and of couse a camcorder... :)

Probably a Latin dictionary too, especially if I didn't know what kingdom or era I was going to... Latin was pretty much universal in the Middle Ages.

I think that makes more sense than just "money". I don't think I would bring a stack of 20s with Jefferson's face in the middle and "series 2003" stamped in the corner.
    Interesting question... what to bring?

Maybe an automatic rifle, take over a castle and see how long you can hold it before your ammo runs out...

I can speak some Latin decently, a double-barreled sawn off shotgun would help too.

I was thinking, what if I had a bag of modern quarters, maybe they would fetch SOME value. But no, back then money was judged by the precious metal content and not by the face value. Since modern quarters can be tested as being merely silver-clad, I'd probably get in big trouble. Hence the modern firearm. ;)

I would bring several pounds of aluminum. It was sometimes called "electrum" and was considered to be magical. It was very rare because the only way to get it was to pick flakes from the or. Now it is cheap do to electolitic separation.
During the Napoleanic wars Napolean offered nobles gold by VOLUME for aluminum. they refused until he said "On pain of death".
He had some idea of a light cannon brigade with aluminum cannon. I don't think it would work because the tensile strength of AL might not be strong enough for cannon.

yeah electrum is a naturally occuring alloy of silver and gold that was used for currency in plces.

    gee Id bring.....
    severl tons of 5160 steel
    Tp
make sure I had my shots up to date
    lots of soap
    spare glasses or contacts
and I would most definatly need a Conversatioinal Latin Dictionary for Tourist. Justt need to find one my latin is kinda not good my Modern German is better and I doubt my English would work to well.

    lots and lots of socks
And Iwould need a cart andsome oxen to haul around my steel
And shot gun with a suply of slugs and rock salt loads. Slugs for armomr and the salt for peasants and any un fortunate enough to ahve no armor.

My mistake. I had heard that electrum was a reference to aluminum. I also heard that it was a reference to titanium.
One thing I would like to take is a book I have; "The Craft of the Japanese Sword." It has proven very useful for general forging techniques.
