What have you sparred with other than things made specifically for fighting?

I've had 2-litre pop-bottle duels. Those were fun.
I've sword-fought with sticks many many times.

One of my favourite is brooms. Fight until the first hit with the bristles and you've got yourself a short but good fight.

Umbrellas work quite well too. The usual rules for these fights are no stabbing, only horizontal strikes.

    Ahahahahaha, nice.

Well I have sparred with, toy swords, foam swords. retan swords, fruit is interesting, water bombs in socks, is also fun, but you need a few.
I can't think of any others, but I know there is more that I have done.
But those were the most entertaining.

I'd almost want to try hockey-sticks and baseball-bats, but those could really hurt.

Oh my god I just thought of an awesome fighting style. You know those toys called foxtails? They would be awesome.

Your supposed to swing it around for momentum and then throw it and either play catch with someone else or use it as a dog toy.

Or one could go with a half brick in a sock, or tennis ball if your soft.

Yeah, those would work if I had long enough socks. Maybe I could dig up some of my old soccer socks. They would work.

Well then you're just kicking. I think tennis balls would work best.
Well... nothing would work better than an actual foxtail.

No I meant you could use either footy socks or soccer socks.

As a filler anything hard and ball shaped, like a cricket ball :D

Foxtails are actually rather soft, that's part of why it would make a good sparring weapon.

So it's like a sort of foam ball?

Yeah, but it still manages to have some weight behind it.

Oh, I only did this once, but leg-length strands of kelp work awesomely.

Hahaha, this one time at my cousins house there were all these dead jellyfish on the shore and we had a jellyfish fight with them. We were throwing them at people.

Nice, though we used to put them on peoples seats, just as they would go and sit on them, that was entertaining.

Something we wee talking about at work, was fighting with stock, like laptops, mobile phones, rc toys and even TVs now that would be fun.
    If only........

That would hurt alot. It would be good for actual fighting but bad for sparring.

The whole idea of sparring is to develop skills for combat, fake or otherwise, using soft toys as weapons is not the way to learn :p
Getting whopped on the head by a hunk of wood or metal however is a good way to lear that blocking is in fact a good idea.

Armour is annoying though. Sometimes it's useful, but it makes fighting less fun.

True, but it means you can use metal swords instead, which is much more fun.

I've never fought with metal swords before. Actually I've never fought with a proper weapon before. Only impromptu weapons like sticks, brooms, and 2 litre pop bottles.
