I finally put down FO4 for a minute to try something new. I heard so many great things about the Witcher 3 that I expected it to suck me in and provide months or years of play like the fallouts and skyrim, but I have to say I'm having trouble getting into it.

There are two things that are frustrating the hell out of me.

First off, the character movement and control responsiveness are so... clunky. I tried adjusting the right stick sensitivity, and that helped, but the game still doesn't feel fluid at all compared to Bethesda's offerings, or KoA. Rotating the camera, moving the player.. feels like a choir.

Second, the tutorials are annoying as hell. I wanted the tutorials for combat and such since I'd never played a witcher game before, but I don't need 18 dialogue boxes every time I open a new menu.

Please tell me it gets better. (or maybe there's some tweaks I'm not privy to?)

I found the movement and combat pretty clunky and difficult at first, too. I was pretty frustrated, and I just wanted it to be more like Dark Souls, because that's what I'd been playing a lot of before I got into The Witcher 3.

But I stuck with it, and persevered. And after a couple of days, I got used to it. And I got sucked in! I ended up putting in over 130 hours.

I can't praise it highly enough. I even sang it's praises to my (Polish) mum, who doesn't care about video games - I just had to tell her that one of the most acclaimed games of the past decade was Polish.

The main story of the base game as well as Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine is just incredible. Then there's Andrzej Sapkowski's books on Geralt of Rivia to read too. So far I have 116 hours in game, and tbh in my opinion it's the only game that has ever surpassed Skyrim. If you haven't yet continued playing (I know you probably have) I beg you carry on.

I started to read Witcher books in 90s so i am a huge fan of the games. W3 is definitely the best of all three games. Landscape in Blood and Wine was simply wonderful. It is so great to meet persons known from the books.

I havet finished it because I got busy with Horizon, and thenI recently got god of war so... might take a while for me to have time to get back to it.

Both of those are on my to buy list. But in regards to the witcher 3, I think I restarted, and just got out of the beginning part

Ah! I think I've finished the game main story twice, but I have a load of DLC to finish off, the DLCs are amazing, they could almost be stand alone games compared to the storyline of many other games out there.

I haven't given it a decent try yet. I tried it for a while last year. I borrowed it from my brother-in-law, but the beginning seemed rather slow and I think the setting put me off a bit. I thought it was too, I dunno, stereotypical? I thought the dark bland fantasy setting put me off. I found the setting a bit depressing. Of course in a way I'm biased and in a way I'm not. The first game I thought had a really slow pace and going from place to place was really tedious and some elements of the game I also thought were boring. I thought the second game was going to be a big improvement. Unfortunately my PC was crap then and the game was impossible to play. I guess I could give it another try now that I have a much faster PC. But unless I play the second one first, I don't have a large interest in playing the third one. What's funny is that people complained that AC: Origins was too much like the Witcher 3 and people didn't like that, but Origins is now my favourite AC game. So I guess it's the setting and the character I really liked in that game, cause if it really is like the Witcher 3, then why wouldn't I like that game, right?

I had the same issue. Though, I've not given it enough of an attempt to justify such a reason. I've seen Stormborn play it a bunch on the PS4, but when I had a quick go I just found the controls were a little too... latent? There felt like there was always a half second of delay. Maybe it's just that I'm used to gaming on PC, but I then bought it for steam (20€ for GOTY) and thorough enjoyed it after a little modding.
