    A great suggestion from Running..

It's time you two take your bickering to a new level. In a nice gladiator outfit, for our entertainment.

    Andddd.. GO!

I think they need something like an incentive.
Or can they just fight ad hoc?
*gets popcorn and takes a seat* ;)

I'd rather not fight. I just want to talk about fantasy books, crack jokes, and be affable. The only reaction I ever troll for is a LOL. In my years here I've done pretty well at that.

I will never understand why Sparrow wants to fight.

But Greybeard you've gotten Julie all ready and started a thread and things - thus the female members of the site are expecting their brawl of macho manliness mixed with mud and probably some other stuff.

You can't let them down now - the reputation of the whole male population of the site is resting upon you and Sparrow's shoulders!

I enter the arena dressed in post-apocalyptic black... imagine Mel Gibson in Road Warrior.

Now let us get down to beezwax.

I would like Greybeard to explain to me why it is that God nowhere in the bible explicitly condemns slavery.

So Greybeard, how is it you can worship a God that sanctions the use of young women as sex slaves?

Probably because the Bible wasn't gods word so much as the words of his "earthly servants" and that the Bible has always been an amalgomation of the writings of many different authors, and that the collection of those works is always dependant upon which bible you read - there are many many different versions even within the same faith groups and not.......waiiit!

This isn't mud wrestling that is a debate

I predict that GB will win this, because I've had a similar debate; and he thrashed me.

But then again you don't know Greybeard like I do.
    To me, he's a dime-a-dozen christian apologist.

Even with God on his side he wants no part of me.

Oh I've had a multiple page discussion with him without any distractions and some very long posts, as well as having been around a little longer than you. I can tell you that the discussion does not have to be christian-related for him to know a lot. Greybeard is very knowledgeable and can hold some good arguments.

I have no doubt in that regard... but here I am, standing by my lonesome in the arena, feeling like a jilted gladiator.

Don't think he has time for this now/feels like it, so eh... "Battle adjourned".

Timezone difference. The Canadian type seem to get up late and go to bed late for us europeans.

Greybeard will reply in his own time; he's got a job and lives about 6 timezones (5 for Sparrow) away from here.

I also have a job, and worked 67 hours last week... the brain is still fresh as a daisy as I begin another long work week.

I'm ready for a debate on Slavery, and why the Holy Bible condones slavery as an institution and a normal activity of daily life, and nowhere does it consider it a sin... so long as the slave is treated well.
