Soul edge isn't a sword, it isn't even a sword-like object. It's an absurdity. It's a hideosity.
Cloud Strife never ceases to disappoint.
He looks like a pixie with a large knife and a bad hair cut.
More like he looks like he would woop your ass.
Only if I was laughing so hard I couldn't fight back.
Well tbh, if I saw somebody who could swing a massive thing like that around with one-hand and quite easily, I'd be pretty sure that he is able to use that thing like a normal sword.
But that's the point. That what makes it unrealistic. No one and nothing swings a 70lb sword like an actual sword.
Besides, it still doesn't look like a sword, but like a large knife, and that makes him look like he's fourteen inches tall.
it is unrealistic i suppose, but is really why its fantasy, things are possible that ussually aren't.
going by realitness (yes i made it up) in the real world, a sword that large would be impossible to weild. Unless its made of foam...
It depends to an extent on how much fantasy you like in your fantasy. Too much magic and the normal human interaction disappears, too little magic and it becomes historical fiction with the occasional twist.
Any fantasy world in which that silly thing can be handled like an actual sword has so much magic that I lose interest. While I enjoy fantasy elements - or I wouldn't be reading fantasy in the first place - I like my real world elements (swords, ships, fires, pens, horses and a thousand other things) to be as real as possible, because that allows me an easier and ultimately more fulfilling relationship with the characters.
Except it's not Fantasy in the way we know it. It's Japanese game fantasy where fantasy merely stands for the fact that it is just part of one's imagination. A fantasy.
Plus who knows, maybe he uses magic (make energy) to help him wield such a huge weapon so easily. Sure it's unrealisitic, but it's not real world either, there's not going to be much "real world elements" since it's entirely a Fantasy. The game still retains it's normal human interactions and the characters are fine.
But the image remains comical past the point of absurdity, hence my original comment that he looks like a pixie with a large knife and a bad haircut.
maybe if it were put to scale, it may seem a bit less unrealistic.
I think that one wins.
Although for people sized ones Jaques' sword in Onimusha three, like Ivy's whip in Soul Caliber, only it automatically extends and somehow never hits him
I disagree . . . it's massive and made out of concrete, but it's a relatively correct and proportionate (over)representation of a perfectly real and perfectly functional style of swords.
The question isn't if you were scaled up could you wield it, the main question is what's the the most ridiculous sword assuming all people are normal sized. That said I'd like to see any normal sized person move that thing with their bare hands, compared to that Frostmoure or the Buster sword would be cake.
Hahaha that's one big mof of a sword
But yeah, proper proportions though.
As much as I think that sword is crazy, I don't think it quite applicable.
But wow, and some more, wow.
Proper proportions? Are you nuts? The grip is much too long to go with the Viking pommel!
Pfft, picky picky, my wide palms don't like square pommels and stubby little handles
Separate names with a comma.
