i considered buying that master sword replica, but something about it kept bothering me....the blade itself just seemed wrong.

tonight i went hunting, and found this thread as well as this article (posted on page 3 or 4 i believe):

    The Master Sword, Forged

between this sword and david's, you'd pretty much have the perfect replicas....*IF* they were functional.

that one has the best grip out of all the replicas ive seen.

the perfect replica would have the grip and insignia from that sword. The blade shape, pommel and crossguard from barbarian monkey's, and the blue colouring from podgorney's

i felt that the crossguard was more true in this picture over barbarianmonkey's. if you look at the picture it was based off of, it's probably as close as one could get to that picture...perhaps the flared out section could be a bit MORE flared out...but that's about it.

i'd have to put the pictures of the blades side by side to see anything more

Holy Crap, THATS IT! thats exactly it! the blade is a little wide but correct in terms of the game. But that sword looks pretty much exactly accurate.

Lets just say there is no way in HELL Link swings this thing one handed!

I mean I can swing it with plenty of momentum, but bringing it to a stop and changing directions doesn't happen; picking it up from horizontal to the vertical with one hand is in itself a challenge and I'm a pretty big guy at 210 lbs / 6'3"

The bladed is hand forged EN45 spring steel. Extremely hard, yet flexible, and has a nice ring to it when you tap the edge of the blade. Could proabably cut 440 stainless in half! The rest of the hardware is cast stainless.

Well I have to keep my long time promise now, that I would commit to a full Link costume (Halloween, Cosplay, whatever) provided I had a real Master Sword... so it begins...

lol, well if the rest is stainless steel then it sure would be heavy, perhaps if the blade was more narrow it may be more dextrous, not too much or the look would be wrong.

Nah the sword itself is perfect! It's Link who *should* have the forearms of a horse the way he handles it.

I think ive seen pictures of ones like that before. The blade may be narrow compared to ingame but its much more real;istic for a rea ssword. Looks good but there are a few innacuracies from the original design, like the pommel.

    Hey Crusader,

thanks for your comments ;) yeah you are definitely right, i think the handle ought to be a bit more "curvy" like two archs of half rainbows instead of plain straight.

would be nice if someone make a shield to go with a good replica :)

I can't fork out so much for a replica sword :( i guess students are supposed to be poor :p

thanks again, please let me know if you have seen a decent replica with a good price ;)

    Much thanks :draught:

well most of the ones you see are custom swords which means theyre not really that cheap, the best one ive seen though is exdeath's one just up the page from here (the one with the 3 links), looks good, the colouring may be a little off but its the best oens ive seen.
