    Re: Teh Magicians Guild

Yeah I read it about a week back. I enjoyed it and it was nice to read something a little different than normal. I really like the way that Canavan showed the conflict between the magicians and the dwells and showed it from both sides.

This is actually one of my favorite series. It's nice to go back to this after a rather thought provoking or difficult read. The simplicity of the writing mixed with the complexity of the plot makes for a perfect series to re-read anytime you please.
Kudos to TC for this series.

I bought this book a while back. Everytime I try to read it I get about 50 pages into it and just can't go on it bores me so much. But that was like 2 or so year ago. I've developed a bigger attention span now. I'll try reading it again soon. I looked at reviews for it a while back and I think they said it was a bad book. But if you guys all like it I'm sure it's an ok book. I'll read it within a month and come up with the desiciion for myself though.

The books were great, I enjoyed them. Although I cannot recall any of the sub-characters names anymore :S

I really liked this series, and was surprised to read some people blast it - glad to know I am not all alone...

I liked the conflicts - but I hated the ending. In one way, it was really a brave ending, but I really like a particular character.... uhm.... don't wanna spoil it for people.

Poorly written, predictable tosh that sullies the name of Tolkien by even being in this part of the forum.:p

I've read the first, haven't got to the others yet. Overall I thought it was a good book, but a bit underwhelming. I heard the second was better than the first..and I hope so..because some parts of the first just didn't keep my attention.

If the second is better than the first, you will have to go to a doctor's to have the third sliced out of your hands after your being heavily sedated. The end is greeaat! Though some parts do dddrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaagggggg.
But overall its ... gooood ... mmmyeah ... you could say that ...

    BUT READ IT!!!:balrog:

I cried. Like - BAWLED. Seriously, I was sitting at the dinner table after finishing the third book, and I just couldn't stop crying, Literally, that book broke my heart... <.<'

It was just the fact that through all the book Trudi lead you on to absolutely hate and Despise Akkarin with all of your being. What he puts Sonea through is awful and you just wished he'd just die. You hated him so much. Then - BAM - he's actually the good guy -- the BEST guy. EVER. He's saving the world from the Ichani, all by his self, and then you just fall in love with him because he's so sweet and protective and caring and you just want him to kick everyone's ass.

    THEN CRASH. He's Dead. They killed him. THE ****ERS. <//3 X_X T_T';

I read that sequence where he died for hours...and cried every time...<.<

I loved the books with all my heart <3

Same here, I just felt really sad every time I thought of him. You start to love him so much, and then he dies. If he'd waited some time more he may have survived. The description of his death is too good, and Sonea's reaction to it.

We must all bear Akkarin in our memories until the end of time!

Have you read the "Magician's Apprentice", also by Trudi Canavan? It's the story of the forming of the Magician's Guild, thousands of years before, when masters still did high magic and no one knew how to heal with magic (yet).
It's a very good book. She made it a bit long, and I prefer "Priestess of the White", "Last of the Wilds" and the "Dark magician trilogy", but it is still a very good book.

I haven't read any of her others, but I totally intend to, I just have to get my hands on the books. Trudi's planning on making another series about Akkarins son too ^______^ Totally can't wait for that one :D:D
I might check in the library, they might have it...
