Being broke as of late, My way of getting my hands on books is used book stores and libraries. Suprisingly I've found that the local libraries around here carry the second two books in the series, but not Game of Thrones. I wonder why.

Try looking for a used copy online, used paperbacks are only a couple of bucks on Amazon.

This is pure guess work on my part, but one reason that libraries do not have the Game of thrones is that the First edition hard cover is worth in excess of $500. And since most libraries get books when they first come out these books have been pilfered.

Aye, it was one of the greatest gifts I've ever received. Although it completely destroyed the next few weeks afterwards where I did nothing but read all three books.

WOW!! Where do you get friends who buy books for you? I doubt most of my friends know what the inside of a bookstore looks like.

But I understand the "trauma" of not being able to find the book you want. I was in Barnes & Nobles, and they didn't have the book! I actually found it in one of those tiny mall bookstores. Not the first time I had trouble finding a specific volume either. Had that problem 3 times in the WOT series. You'd think a huge bookstore could keep one volume of everything on the shelves at all times for popular series. Not eight of one book and none of anything else.

Ha, there is a used bookstore I have a habit of going to, all through my WOT reading as soon as I would be done with a book it would appear in the store since there was no reason for me to buy it anymore. >_<
