its nothing you can easily learn on the internet. You need to go out and search for books. That is the easiest way other than actual training. If you want to know some books, just ask.

What type of sword fighting do you mean? The medieval type with those specific swords, or the martial arts type, with katanas and such? I can slightly teach the use of a katana, but that's all from me...

I should ask why you want to learn swordplay. The answer will influence the best approach.

My interest in swordplay is as a fantasy writer, and my primary goal is a more realistic and entertaining fight scene. For that, the ARMA website has been very useful. But if your interest is primarily in learning to do it for recreation or exercise, you'll have to learn from an expert. If you want to get into one of the sports - fencing or SCA fighting - you'll have to approach someone who knows that particular style.

    Very true.

I wanted to learn sword and shield for fun. So I joined a medieval re-enactment group. It's not 100% real stabbing of faces and groins etc, but I've learnt the basics fairly well I believe.

If you want to know how to disarm people and kill them for real, ARMA would be good.

For wearing heavy armour and smashing as hard as you can, SCA is good.

For rapier style fencing, find a fencing club.

So yeah, depends on what you want to do exactly.

I can handle a sword fairly well, but now I want to learn how to fight with just a dagger, for recreational purposes and because I want to fuse the two into fighting with both. Anyone know any good places to learn dagger techs?

You mean dagger fighting like street fighting, to kill someone? Or a stylised martial art that's about scoring points, not actually killing someone?

Any metal weapons or SCA group would do basic dagger techniques. If you want to kill people, I can't help you there. Some of the asian martial arts might do knife work though, maybe escrima or ninjitsu?
