The sword looks too plain to be one of any importance, it seems to just have a simple crossgurad, simple pommel, leather wrap, and that's it.

And even if Frodo had taken a sword from the Hradrim in the Ithilien attack, the Rangers would have no doubt taken it from him and discarded it.

so it doesnt mean frodo had to encounter a haradrim or easterling, i mean there were plenty of their swords left at pellennor becuase most of them died, so when frodo went to gondor and into minas tirith they could have been like hey heres a gift it was a commanders sword or somthing so you remember or somthing like that, i mean thats alot of swords to get rid off

I'm going to watch the EE of Fellowship, just in case there a scene that shows them on the wall before frodo's adventure. Then it means Bilbo got them, not Frodo. Not to mention the galleries of pictures, if it shows them while they had Bag End set up for Bilbo, that means they were intended for him.

I meant like Halbarad said, that they got one later from the pellenor field battle.

I don't recall any sword on the wall in FOTR EE, and why would Bilbo have a Easterling sword from his journeys?

Well I dont know if this really applies, but in the books Frodo wanted nothing to do with any weapons after his trip to Mount Doom. So I dont think that he would have picked up anyone elses weapons, since he didnt even want Sting back from Sam. Just my 2 cents worth. But we are talking about the movie so who knows

hmm, didn't he take Sting as Bilbo gifted it to him again when they met?

It might be as some said in the beginning, that PJ just took 2 swords from the workshop and placed them on a bare wall, maybe for some sublinal massage? :)

Compare it to the first pic.

My guess is that the swords have no meaning, and were just placed there for the heck of it. The other sword I guess will remain a mystery until someone finds it.

Hmm, remember the unidentifiable sword from the FotR display i posted? Could the broken sword possibly be Gandalf's riding sword?

No it does not match. And besides what would be stupider than frodo keeping the sword of the WK that he had before he was the WK.

Still, EBM, what about Gandalf's Riding Sword? And that unidentified sword was the WK's?

Gandalfs rifing sword was the WK's first sword. In the weapons and warfare book of LOTR, when it is showing the nine kings of men, we clearly see the hilt of the very first king who is obviously the witchking, then when we see the close up of the riding sword they match perfectly. Why, when or how gandalf got it, I have no idea, it seems kinda wierd to me, but they are undisputedbly the same.

I dont think that the sword pics that Justice poasted are the same. The one that is being held by the orc has a very destinctive curve on it and the one on the wall of bag end does not. The sword on the wall at bag end seems to have a buldge at the end of the pommel and the one the orc has does not.

It doesn't matter if it is exactly the sword or not, what does matter is that it is the same kind of sword, which means it was carried by the same army, and in this case it is orcs of mordor.
