Hello everyone I'm Eldorias from France (sorry for my English).

It is my first post but I am following this forum for about 2 month.
For Christmass I received the strider ranger scabbard and I noticed that it marked the blade. Something like a black pencil line (1,5 cm long) at the top of the blade.
Does anyone had the same problem and know how to erase it? I tried many think but the mark is still there.
Concerning fitting problem no problem for me.

    Thank for help

    Legolas

    For info I own
    UC strider ranger sword
    UC strider ranger scabbard
    UC Glamdring
and I am very interested in strider elven knife

I dont have the scabbard yet but I read a while back on thsi forum of somebody having the same problem. They were having trouble getting the sword in and out of the scabbard. Only the last 2" I believe... People suggested there was somethign wrong with the scabbard and to get a new one, or maybe the sword isnt perfectly straiht and when you place it inside the bend/curve rubs up against the lining of the scabbard. To remove the mark you might try a stainless steel polish, using an eraser or some other rubber material. lightly and carefully scratching it off with something. But as I said Im not sure.

    Best of luck

My dad's ranger sword scabbard has the same problem.I have no idea how to fix it either because it is at the tip of the sword. We rub it off and it comes back soon as we put it back in the scabbard.

Hmmm.... could this explain the "blood" on Aaragorn's blade when he "falls back" from the Mordor Gate before he engages in battle?.... Should have cleaned Anduril off before they shot that scene? Or possibly something to come in the EE?

i'm no scabbard expert, but it seems to me that there is a foam-like piece in the tip of the scabbard to eliminate would-be jiggling of the sword and to keep it from just falling out if it is held upside down. i'll bear with a little sticky stuff on the blade if it means a nice quiet, well-fit scabbard. btw, when i first got my scabbard, i was a little scared that i couldn't push the sword all the way in. but it goes in fine, probably makes for a custom fit.

and, 1ranger, that is an ee bit

GREAT! At least I now know that nothing is wrong with my scabbard. I was worried at first that it was a metal pin that was protruding inside the scabbard. (Take a torch light and shine inside the scabbard, and you can see a small pin right at the end).

It marked my blade just where the fuller starts. Since there wasn't any deep scratches, and the black line can be easily polished off, I didn't bother too much about it.

Now that everyone is having the same 'problem', I think we can safely say that it was designed this way.

We have not taken any of the scabbards apart to inspect exactly what is inside them but from what I understand there is a wooden lining inside that cradles the blade. I would not think that United used any kind of metal in the inside for this. I know the inside of the sting scabbard was made of kevlar. BUt Kit i think said that this one is a wooden lined scabbard. The wood is probably fitting tightly on the blade and this is more than likly the reason for the marks. I suggest you try putting a light machine oil like 3- in one oil on the blade and insert the blade into it several times this should also help with the tight fit. It will not harm your blade or scabbard. BUt do not use a thick grade of oil because this will build up and collect dust and moisture. THe light grade oil will evaporate soon and cause no problems.

Nope, cause 1) that would have been Anduril's scabbard and 2) he had just chopped off the Mouth of Sauron's head.

I would think that United has closely followed the situation here of the problems with the Ranger Scabbard and are fully aware of what to look for now. I dont suspect that they will let the same thing happen again. The first time is understandable, and they took all the correct steps to make the problem right. So it should not happen with the Anduril scabbards.

The best way to clean swords is to go any cun shop or sporting goods store and buy a product named Flitzz. This metal polish is rediculouse and will make your ranger sword look brand new. That scabard thing is a quick fix, STOP PUTTING IT IN THE SCABBARD.
