........Whoever checked out my profile will find a photo-album that's full of drawings that were not lucky enough to get finished...I have a serious problem concerning boredom, and what little enthusiasm a new drawing brings me, is quickly snuffed out when my boredom outbalances it. So me got thinking and me thought maybe post my steps to finish my latest drawing in the hopes of you people actually helping me finish something at last...i've already started the drawing but luckily scanned it once or twice until it got to where it is today.

this is the scan of the "first" drawing

it's supposed to be my dnd fey'ri (half-demon,half-elf) sorcerer and he looks kinda gay, i know.
But he IS half-elf and he IS a sorcerer....(Charisma score =23).

this one is my pride and joy...i rarely succeed in drawing the hands with the first try but this one really left me satisfied. Sevi says the hands need to be a bit bigger, and she's right but i'll fix that in photoshop processing...This is the most recent scan so far, i'll have more when i get to it later this evening.

I think it's really good. Btw you're not the only one creating characters reflecting your own. I got one like that in my gallery too. But yeah I would try to experiment with shading if I were you.

i know i've seen your drawing and they're very good. Shading is nice and all but i prefer to do it in photoshop, were i can erase a mistake with ease as opposed to pencil and paper which stays on no matter how hard you use the eraser. What i'm doing is create lineart that'll be easy to process in photoshop.

Looks good so far, I like the details.

LOL, I'm the complete opposite, I'd rather do everything in pencil since it gives me more control. I think it depends on the type of pencil and eraser you use because I don't find it hard to fix mistakes when I draw. Concerning photoshop, I only use a mouse and it's a pain to do lineart and colour imo. I am investing in a tablet so maybe my opinion will change :D

I look forward to your next update :D

Same here, I try diffferent pencils for shading, for the outline etc... I have never used photoshop except for erasing a few small mistakes, but not really to add something. Maybe I'll change one day too, cause I want to investe in the same as dragn9

a tablet WILL change your artistic life...i don't think i would look forward to photoshop processing if i didn't have my tablet.

Btw i never got to do much drawing today, some friends came to crash and we ended playing DnD...had loads of fun...i think i'll be outlining the drawing tomorrow with ink and have it ready for photoshop. The next update will have a bit of color in it, methinks.

Added wings, and drew the rest of the robe...Then i inked it, photoshoped it to smooth out the lines and worked on it in illustrator to live-trace the lines...still needs a lot of work before i can start the coloring...and it is starting to get on my nerves...

edit: and i completely forgot to reduce the canvas size, so he seems like he's a kilometer away...but that's just a click to fix so i won't be bothered with it for now...

I wouldn't doubt it. I've done a couple pieces in ps with a mouse and it is painstakingly time consuming and difficult.

The wings you added in the last shot were a nice touch, completes it more.

it's been 3 days since i posted any progress with the drawing...I had some difficulties with the guy's face but worked them through...then i started to work on the upper part of the robe...here things went downhill...i was trying to remember why i hated coloring clothing in black and it all came to me once i started to work on this. Black means it's very difficult to shadow the folds. It means very difficult to add some weight to the drawing and make it more 3d than 2d...it means my head imploded at least 7 times during the past 3 days...and to think i still have to finish the lower part of the robe...oh well.
The eyes were a breeze and i was thinking of "armoring" his hand when i got the idea of a lava-containing arm that spewed forth flames...i messed around with it for a while and i liked the result...
Still a ways to go but he's starting to feel more of a person and less of a drawing,eh? maybe i'll draw him smiling...:D

this is a general view of the drawing:

    and this is a close-up:

Its coming along really nice :D

I've only used a computer once on any of my drawings, and that was to give it some colour.

Cant wait to see the next update.
