Hey im beginning to make chainmail. Just wondering if anyone had any tips for me and some help on making larger projects and things. Oh, does anyone know how to make a chain gauntlet? im not sure how to measure it out. Would love to see someone else's work. PS im planning on starting with the ringlords galvanized steel beginners set-i no it rusts but who cares ill keep it dry. Unless someone knows of a good uk site that is. Thanks in advance

I've always got some project going.

I'd estimate around 35,000-40,000 rings in the hauberk and coif combined.

Thanks. I agree, I was very fortunate with the shield and Allans encouragement and support with this project is very much appreciated.

chain mail is great stuff. some times tedious. i started by winding galvy around a philips head screwdriver by hand and cutting the coil with side cutters, yuk. now i clamp the wire to a long shaft with vise-grips and use the grips as a handle to turn with, then i cut the wire with a jewellers saw. much nicer.if u dont have a saw,try just pinching the wire with cutters a little and lever the ring off, tearing it at the score.it gives a surprisingly flush cut,the chuck on a good dvd and get comfy.

Get comfy as it consumes hours and hours of your life!!!!! :D

I got lazy and bored and gave it to a mate to finish.

Then my group got a good deal on rivetted black suits, hauberk and coif. I'll get some pictures one day and post them now I've got a better helmet and costume.
