dont get me wrong I enjoy the Trek movies. More so the earlier ones, but Star wars is still greater. It revolutionized Movies. It brought Advanced special-effects technology to a degree unseen before, with computerized and digitally-timed special effects. It ultimately helped to resurrect the financial viability of the science-fiction genre, a category of films that was considered frivolous and unprofitable, and brought the phrase "May the Force be with you" into common usage. ;)

How many people go around saying "live long and prosper"? none that I know of.

edit: oh and greybeard. Anyone who wears those redicilous costumes is gay in my books. :p

If we are talking about the movies. Starwars was out BEFORE lord of the rings. the first movie was out in 1977. Plus the two are absolutely nothing alike.

Also Obi-wan didnt kill anakin. And what whining? I see far more yawn fests in Trek movies. With dodgy acting, predictable plots (if there even is one) and boring characters.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about :p

As a Sci-fi fan. I like all sci-fi movies, but Star Wars will always be the greatest as it has one of the best storylines ever writen and directed.

I think that goes without saying. Once they moved over to the next gen it all fell a bit flat.

It did, but that doesn't make a great movie on its own. However, yeas, Star Wars is resposible for many things in the land of Hollywood and beyond and it is a milestone in movie prodcution for a great number of reasons.

That doesn't mean that they didn't read the books

Star Trek isn't alone for dodgy acting, Star Wars has its share of poor acting, and boring characters, and even predictable plots as well.

And this is the bit for me. I love Sci-Fi. I love all sorts of Sci-Fi movies, form the really to the really bad. Star Wars is a good series, although the prequals never quite lived up to the expectations and are perhaps the weakest of the bunch. Star Trek is equally good, the even numbered ones especially in the older series, and have a charm of their own. The new movie promises lots of good stuff to come.

Star Wars has a great mythology which I think makes it very appealing, but Trek also has a mythology of a totally differant sort. These series' are almost polar opposites in their approaches to the story and science and character relationships. In many ways it difficult to favour one over the other when you love them both and grew up with them as a part of your life.

Today my favourite is Star Trek. Tomorrow it might be Star Wars' turn. ;)

Star wars was just boring, and I was talking about the books, and Anakin was always whining and moaning, and Padme despite being hot was always whining and moaning, That gay robot got on my nerves and the possessed garbage can was a pain in the ass.

The first 3 films were entertaining I will grant that, but the new ones were just awful.

It's gay to hang around lots of women in miniskirts? Are you sure you're straight?

They wore robes because they were part of an order. Plus if I had a choice, I'd rather wear robes and look cool than look like someone from a gay pride parade. :p

Grey beard just cos the females wear mini skirts (which I'm finding it hard to actually find a picture of as they wear the same as the men), it doesnt mean the men dont look gay. And yes I'm sure I'm straight, sorry. :p

    And to quote myself:

Hah, you little brown noser you.

In all seriousness, and I'm a nerd for this stuff, Star Wars Empire would defeat the Federation anyday of the week and twice on saturday.

I actually like Star wars too, I was obsessed with it when I was younger, not much of a fan of episodes 1 to 3 though, I was always a Luke and Han solo fan! Anakin annoyed me quite a bit, but Natalie portman is deffo hotter than Carrie fisher.

Though Zoe Saldana as Uhura *Drools*

    miniskirt

The one on the right is the female of the species - and a moderately impressive example at that - and you will note that her clothing is different from that of the one on the left.
