No, Lucasfilm set up on overseas Animation studio in Singapore. The Clone Wars 3D animated show will be worked on there. There's an article on StarWars.com about it:

    Clone Wars

That article is kind of vindication for me. The Supervising Director, Dave Feloni, is the guy I know from Nickeolodeon. A lof of people didn't believe me when I said he left here to go work on that.

I guess they still have little reason to believe me. But I know him. He has a kick-ass Strider costume.

    Re: Live-action TV Series

Takes place between ep III-ep IV...no important characters, but names like Palpatine will be metionned. Will be based on an EU-character...there's speculation that it is Quinlan Vos, cause George Lucas asked dark horse comics to make him survive order 66. The first 100 episodes will be written and directed by George Lucas himself. (although I think I read he's also searching for another writer)

    Re: Live-action TV Series

no no news about that, Ian Mcdiarmid said once, that if they asked him to play the emperor again in one episode or more, he would do it...if the emperor will be in the series even if it's just for one episode is unknown..

Confirming what Anakin said right at the top of this thread, this is from news.bbc.co.uk:

Star Wars series to run and run
Last Updated: Wednesday, 15 March 2006

The TV series spin-off of the Stars Wars film franchise will run to at least 100 episodes, according to producer Rick McCallum.
He told BBC Radio 1 the writing team would soon be meeting to start on the project, which would begin filming in 2008 and be ready the same year.

"Hopefully if we can make it work and everybody's excited and watches it we will keep on going," said McCallum.

The series will be set between episodes three and four of the film saga.

It would cover the 20 years in the life of Luke Skywalker growing up that remains a mystery to most film-goers.

McCallum said there would be "a whole bunch of new characters" and the series would be "much more dramatic and darker".

    Huge franchise

He added that it was unlikely any of the stars of the movies would be involved in the TV series.

Star Wars creator George Lucas has just completed writing the script for the next Indiana Jones film and will then begin work on Red Tails, about African-American pilots in World War II.

Following completion of that film, work will begin on the Star Wars TV series.

There has already been a Star Wars series spin-off in the shape of the animated Clone Wars, which began as three-minute episodes before they were expanded to 30-minute shows.

    Re: Live-action TV Series

Steve Sansweet, Lucasfilm's Head of Fan Relations, talked about upcoming "Star Wars" events today at the San Diego Comic-Con in front of a huge crowd. He said that the "Star Wars" animated series is now scheduled to premiere in 2008 and the live action series sometime before 2010.

The animated series is set late during the Clone Wars after Anakin Skywalker has achieved the rank of Jedi Knight. "We've been spending the last couple of years building from scratch two new state-of-the-art digital animation companies, one at Skywalker Ranch and one in Singapore," Sansweet said. "The scripts for the first batch of shows have been completed, and Animation is hard at work on the first episodes."

Anakin, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Count Dooku, Palpatine, General Grievous and Asajj Ventress are expected to appear in the animated show.

Sansweet added that David Koepp's script for Indiana Jones 4 is a couple of months away. They are hoping pre-production can start at the end of this year or early 2007.

I've merged the thread that was more recently created into an existing one. Please do a search in future to avoid making duplicate threads. Thanks.

2008 and 2010? Bugger, I was hoping for a bit sooner than that. Oh well......

"In 2007, Lucas will begin work on a live-action 'Star Wars'-show set during the 18-year gap between Episodes III and IV. "We haven't started yet; I start that next year," the filmmaker said, adding that he's determined to write an entire first season before shooting begins on the show that will star background characters from that time period.

"None of the Skywalker story, none of that stuff is in there," he explained, shooting down any depiction of a young Han Solo acquiring the Millennium Falcon or running with Lando Calrissian. "It's completely different. The animated series has got all the characters in it. The one that comes after, the live-action one, is with people who were in 'Star Wars', but they're not the main characters."

Lucas said the plot will be steered by characters such as TIE Fighter or Rebel pilots, most only briefly glimpsed in the six 'Star Wars'-films."
