The announcement of a new Star Wars TV series was made overnight on Australia. Here's a link!

    http://www.theforce.net/episode3/story/C3_Star_Wars_TV_Show_Info_Recap_91637.asp

Although I have no faith when it comes to Australian commercial TV and sci-fi (see Farscape, Stargate, Startrek, Battlestar Galactica) they'd be MAD to ignore this ... Anyway, it looks like I will have more DVDs to buy :)

As they said when the trailers for Epidaose I appeared "Every saga has a begining ...". Now it looks like this saga has a continuation! :jawa:

filming starts somewhere in end 2006 so it would probably only be in the US in 2007 so I wouldn't start waiting for it!

It's gppd to see that they are going to take their time with this rather than rush it out to capitalise on the end of Ep III.

Anyway, whenever it arrives ... the DVD box sets are MINE!

yeah I bet they will try to make something very serious of it like the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles...Lot's of special effects were used there and they were very good, cause I was fearing that they would turn it into a cheap star trek show (no offence, trekkies!:D)

yeah, from what GL said at C3, it will be very similar in construction to Young Indiana Jones. It will be 1 hour long episodes that aren't neccessarily linear and involve many characters. They are gonna write the whole season before filming. I don't believe Lucas will direct though. At C3 he said he would hand it over after the preliminary filming.

there's also the 3D Clone Wars thing too. Which will most likely be pretty craptacular given 3D's bad track record on TV. But who knows.

I'm looking forward to the animated 30 minutes CLone Wars episodes. I saw some of the 3 minute ones, and thought they were really cool. So 30 minute episodes with more expanded storylines should be sweet. And who doesn't want to see more of Yoda kicking butt? :)

yeah, the 3 minute ones were pretty awesome. but, sadly, (well, for me at least) the new ones aren't going to be animated by the same company. it's going to be 3D. probably done by Lucasfilm's newly created 3D Animation Dept.

I don't know if that is sadly...it would be cool if the serie looked more realistic, I liked the style of the previous series, but I wouldn't mind a 3d one cause it would look more adult.

I hope the new show won't be as crappy as that older one.

    what older one?

it probably won't be very realistic. it's hard to get that level of 3D on a TV budget.

i wouldn't agree. im a snob when it comes to digital art and effects. it's the industry i work in. i don't think i have ever seen a fully 3D show on TV that i thought didn't have problems. I'd rather see Clone Wars stay hand drawn with cell-shaded 3D elements like the Cartoon Network series.

I dont think so. Cartoon drawings were once primative, but it takes work to make it better. The more people try it, the better the effects will become.

im sure he can. but TV's production is different than movies. he's gonna have to work within the system this time.

time will still be a factor. average animation is done in about 5-6 months for 12 episodes or so. usually working on several episodes at the same time. it's a lot different than ILM getting 2 years to work on one movie. it could surprise me (and will most likely be good for other people) im just saying I am a snob and I don't think that 3D is the way to go to make stuff really cool. Personally every 3D show on TV right now bores me because the animation usually lacks any kind of spark.
